ST PATRICK'S DAY IRISH ADVENTURE!
We all like to celebrate our special days in style, and our Irish RC counterparts across the Irish sea are no exception! Following on from last year's St Patrick's Day meeting, Ballymoney Oval Carpet Racers and Maiden City Oval Racers in Northern Island combined forces to lay on an epic weekend of racing! With much promotion from the Irish guys and Midge, a party of Brentwood and CCORC drivers headed to the Emerald Isle for a weekend of fun, laughter, and exceptional racing! Making the journey were Midge, Divvy, Sean Foley, Jimmy Spicknell, Ross Mason, Sleepy, Dylan Ellis, Alan Trickett, Liv Foley, Koonta, Daz Fuller and Daniel Jordan. There were also a few guys from Bognor Model Club also making the pilgrimage. While most of us were still tucked up in our nice warm beds, the crew set off for the long, four hour drive to Liverpool Docks, where they boarded the ferry for an eight hour crossing to Belfast, and then continued with an hour's drive to Colraine. Having located their hotels, they hit the town to meet up with some of the Irish guys, and the celebrations began!
An early start on Saturday morning took the guys to Ballymoney Oval Carpet Racers, where the Bognor boys cleaned up in the Hotrods. Simon Cleaver was the winner of the 1300 Stock Cars, with Koonta taking the chequered flag for the 2L Saloons. Our guys then went on to take the Shamrock Unlimited Bangers (Irish Open Championship) by storm with Koonta coming home first, Daz Fuller finished 2nd and 3rd place went to Daniel Jordan! Well done boys!

Sunday was hosted by Maiden City Oval Racers, where once again, the Bognor boys cleaned up in the Hotrods. Koonta then took the wins in the 1300 Stock Cars, 2L Saloons and the All Ford Bangers! Well done Koonta, worth the journey! Sleepy finished 2nd in the bangers, and 3rd place went to Divvy! Congratulations!

Many thanks to all who provided info and pics for the website, hopefully we'll all get to meet the Irish guys when they come over to Essex in the Summer, and roll on 2019, when the guys are hoping to return to Ireland for another celebration of St Patrick's Day, and plenty more Guinness!
Some great effort made with the livery, and a great array of good looking cars for both days! Well done guys! In addition to the racing wins, Divvy also topped his racing off with a cheeky DD win too! Well done Divvy!

In addition to the great racing, our guys also enjoyed some typical Irish hospitality with a socialable evening out, as the pics below show!
Looks like the boys had a great weekend away! The celebrations continued during the journey home, being as it was Divvy's birthday, complete with birthday cake! Mmmmmmmm
Happy Birthday Divvy!
Separated at birth?
All in all, the boys reported a brilliant weekend, and send their many thanks to both clubs for organising and hosting a fantastic weekend! Roll on 2019!
