6TH BIRTHDAY BASH

So it's been 6 years since Brentwood RC Raceway opened it's doors for the very first time! From a busy opening night to the present day, the club has gone from strength to strength, to becoming one, if not the, biggest and most successful clubs in the country! Congratulations Brentwood Crew, you do an amazing job! Keep up the great work you do, you have created a great place for families to visit together, and a fantastic RC family community, so unique, and the envy of so many. The biggest indication of how great you are doing is the great number of drivers that want to race at the club, not just local, but from all around the country. And the biggest compliment is how other clubs are following your lead, and running their clubs very similarly in an attempt to replicate your success!
Thank you for giving so many people so much pleasure and a great place to come to, not just for the racing, but for the social side too!
To celebrate their success, the club today ran their birthday meeting with Unlimited Bangers (65 in attendance tonight!) and 1300 Stock Cars (25 in attendance). Three heats per round of each formula, and finals; with a delicious celebratory cup cake too, courtesy of Sam Warman! Thank you Sam, yummy as always!

The B Final was a sea of carnage, and a real struggle for the cars to get through to register laps! So much so, we actually ran out of time before the race was complete! This being the case, the result was declared as the clock stopped, and the winner was Ethan Webb! He kept his cool, picked his way through and took the lead about two thirds of the way through the race. Holding onto his lead, he wasn't the fastest driver out there, but he was the calmest, and proved the saying "slowly, slowly wins the race", well done Ethan, you were exceptional!
The A Final saw Alec Quarman complete a full house, with three heat wins and the final! A very rare sight these days for Alec! Koonta tried hard to take the lead from Alec, but finally crossed the line 2 laps down to take 2nd place. Finishing in 3rd place was Sleepy with 56 laps, on splits with Craig Watson in 4th. Finishing with 55 laps, to take 5th place was Jack Booker. Well done guys, a great final!

Keeping in line with their success in the bangers, Jack Booker and Koonta also had a win in the 1300's, with a win for Julian Poole too. There was a lot of good humoured banter and argy-bargy between Koonta and Jordan Webb in their heat, but all in good fun, making it very entertaining to watch!

Now I need to pause here and say something about attitude in racing. We had a couple of drivers out in the 1300 Stock Cars today who are not as skillful as the top drivers, but that doesn't mean to say that these guys should not be on the track. They are out there to learn new driving techniques and hone their skills; after all, everyone has to start somewhere, don't they? However, today, at least one of these rookie drivers was told that they shouldn't be out on the track by another driver, and this simply is unacceptable people. Yes they can get in the way of others racing hard, and yes they can knock you off your driving line, but if you're a good driver, you should be able to read the track ahead and take action to get round them. Please don't tell others they shouldn't be out there just because they are not as good as you, this really isn't good sportsmanship, and we do not encourage this attitude at Brentwood. If you can see that a driver is having problems, why not have a friendly chat with them and offer them some advice? Surely that will go a long way to better racing for all concerned? We really want to keep everyone friendly at Brentwood RC, so please, think before to speak, thank you.

A close finish in the B Final saw Sean Foley snatch the win from Phil Roggerman, Nigel Smith and Abbie Pullen, all on splits! Little Ethan Webb crossed the line to take 5th place and in 6th was Harry Palmer. Well done all, a great race!

The A Final saw Jack Booker complete a full house and snatch the win from Dan Morgan on splits! Nice close racing is what we love to see! Jim Burkett came home in 3rd place with Divvy finishing in 4th. Mark Brewster took 5th place and crossing the line to take 6th was Luke Poole. Great racing people, it's what we love to see!
Our usual end of meeting DD saw Adam Roggerman as the last Junior running and Jack Garrett-Lines take the overall win, well done guys, all good fun!
