SCHOOL'S OUT - IT'S FUN NIGHT!

So with the school Easter break well under way, it was time for some fun tonight at the Cow Shed! It's not very often I attend these meetings, but I thought "What the hell? nothing on the TV!"
Numbers were a little different tonight, compared with last meeting (Autism Awareness), but sometimes it's the small meetings that can be the most fun! Was good to see 22 Bangers, 8 1300 Stock Cars and 4 Drifts make it to the track, and a great crowd made for a great evening of fun and banter!

BANGERS
22 John Hillyard, 27 Jamie Townsend, 38 Elle Palmer, 53 Harry Palmer, 66 Harley Donovan, 95 Tracey Manton, 166 Dougie Donovan, 185 Peter Wilkins, 203 Jack Booker, 258 Dave Lungley, 331 Dinky Donovan, 339 Abbie Pullen, 371 Sean Foley, 383 Divvy, 409 Stuart Farquhar, 546 Kerry Goldstone, 555 Dan Morgan, 662 Midge's car (unknown driver), 734 Jimmy Farquhar, 917 Tracy Donovan, 929 John Donovan, 999 Peter Townsend.

John Hillyard's partner, Tracey Manton made her debut, complete with used shells and an L plate roof fin! There was also a couple of new faces, 185 Peter Wilkins, and Midge's car was also put to good use, but unfortunately, I don't have their name, so I apologize for not being able to give you a proper mention!

Three straight victories for Jack in the Bangers' with Divvy grabbing a 2nd place, and Jamie grabbing the 2nd place in the other two rounds. Third places went to John Hillyard, newbie Stuart, and Sean; but tonight was all about fun, and as there were no points, many went crashing, so plenty of carnage in each heat! Jack then went on to complete a full house and take the chequered flag for the final, with Dan coming home in 2nd place and Jamie 3rd.

1300 STOCK CARS
25 Sam Townsend, 27 Jamie Townsend, 46 Mark White,77 Tommy E Smith, 166 Dougie Donovan, 371 Sean Foley, 383 Divvy, 662 Midge (himself this time!).

A great battle ensued tonight between Divvy and Jamie, both vying with each other for the win! Jamie took the first round from Divvy on splits, with Tommy finishing in 3rd place. Round two, and this time Divvy was the victor, 3 laps ahead of Jamie, with Tommy again coming home in 3rd; then in round three, the battle heated up once more, finishing with Divvy the victor on splits! Yet again, Tommy came home in 3rd place. Jamie then went on to take the chequered flag for the final, with Tommy finishing in 2nd place and Mark in 3rd.

DRIFTS
114 Ian Ardley, 203 Jack Booker, 572 Rocket, 603 Chris Ken.

The return of the Rocket tonight made for some good banter, especially between Rob and myself, all in good fun! Rocket finished first in all three rounds, a lap ahead of Jack in round one, two laps ahead of Jack in round two, and then three laps ahead of Jack in round three. In round one, 3rd place went to Chris, driving Ian's car! Ian himself took 3rd place in round two, and then Chris took 3rd place in round three. Rocket failed to run in the final, leaving the remaining three drivers to fight it out between themselves! Ian crossed the line in first place, two laps ahead of Jack in 2nd place and Chris finished in 3rd.

DD
The usual round of crashing and bashing, with the drivers dropping out one by one! 258 Dave Lungley was the last running Senior, battling with 53 Harry Palmer and 331 Dinky Donovan, with Mum's, Dad's Nan's and Grandad's shouting instructions from track-side to the youngsters! Between them they finished Dave off and then went on to battle between themselves for the win. Sadly, Dinky was rendered helpless as his batteries dumped, leaving Harry to take the win! Great finish boys, good fun!

So another great fun night comes to a close. Many thanks to Divvy for running a great meeting, and many thanks to James Donovan for doing a great job in the spares shop and snack bar (you make a great coffee James!).

Next meeting, on 14th April, see's the return of the Ally Bangers and Ally Super Bangers, and of course, non-points ABS Bangers too. See you there! In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the school holidays and the nicely warming weather (at long last!). Take care people.
