BIRTHDAY BASH
Wow! Can you believe it? Brentwood RC Raceway is 3 years old! So much has happened in the past three years, we've seen the club grow and grow, to become one of the most popular clubs in the country! Easter 2018 saw Brentwood RC break the record for the most number of drivers at one meeting, 104! We've seen the club raise money for a number of worthy charities, such as British Heart Foundation, Epilepsy Society, Children's Cancer, and Autism Awareness, to name but a few. The club sponsored a race at Arena Essex in the Roy Rawlins Testimonial meeting, and most importantly of all, we've seen many friendships forged, and seen so many people having fun! Congratulations Brentwood, Happy 3rd Birthday; and Congratulations to Midge and the team, who have worked so hard, so tirelessly, to make Brentwood RC the great success it has become!
JUNIOR BANGERS
The Juniors were the first to take to the track today, with 15 young drivers, excited and full of anticipation! The competition for the Club title has heated up over the past few meetings, and tonight was no exception.

Just a few meetings ago, we all thought that Sonny was the runaway winner, however, Caitlyn and Harry have put the pedal to the metal and chased hard to catch him, and now Sonny's lead is not so comfortable! With Harry not racing tonight, Caitlyn turned all her attention to chasing Sonny, and chase hard she did!

A great start for Marc, with a 2 lap lead over Harvey, and with Caitlyn finishing 3rd and Sonny 6th, Caitlyn pulled back a couple of points over him. Marc repeated his success in heat two, with a 3 lap lead, and Sonny finished 2nd to claw back some points from Caitlyn who had broken down and finished 14th. Robert came home in 3rd place on splits with Harvey. In heat 3, Caitlyn pulled out all the stops and crossed the line to take the chequered flag from Marc on splits, with Harvey coming home in 3rd place. Sonny finished in 13th place. This meant that Caitlyn had closed the gap from 16 points to 12. With double points on offer in the final, could Caitlyn take the lead tonight? Well she was about to try her best!

An excellent drive from Marc saw him cross the line in 1st place, with a 3 lap lead over Caitlyn who finished 2nd. Third place went to Jimmy (good to see you again lad), and Peter came home in 4th, on splits with Harvey. Sonny finished in 6th place on splits with Alfie, and a rare appearance in the finals saw Cameron take 8th place. Alex crossed the line in 9th place, Brandon came home in 10th, and 11th place went to Lily Rose. Louisa crossed the line in 12th place, 13th was Robert, 14th was Denny, and sadly, Charlie failed to make it to the track. Well done Juniors, a great race!
This now meant that Caitlyn had scored 37 points tonight, and Sonny had scored 25. So the gap between these two is now just 4 points! All will be decided next weekend, with the final round of the points championship taking place at the Aylward sponsored Granada meeting! Exciting times!
Some lovely livery from the Juniors there, many thanks to all who provided photos
SENIOR BANGERS
As with the Junior Bangers, tonight was the last but one points meeting for the 2018 Championship. With a lead of 118 points, Shaye was comfortable in the knowledge that he cannot be caught and has already clinched the title! Sleepy, sitting in 2nd place had a 43 point lead over Daniel, and aware that a bad night of racing could see him demoted to 3rd place! So would these be the two to battle tonight? Time would tell!

So, despite being the runaway winner, Shaye was not about to give up his usual winning streak! He took the first round from Daniel on splits, and the second round from Daniel by 2 laps! Daniel however, fought back in round three and managed to take the chequered flag 3 laps ahead of Shaye, his smile said it all! sleepy had to settle for 3rd place in the first two rounds, and then finished in 4th in round three. 510 Olly Goodman had some good results, despite having driven all the way from Devon to do so! Always good to see visitors here at Brentwood RC, and with his great sense of humour, Olly is always a welcome guest!

A fantastic run for Dan, with three straight wins, round three by a 9 lap lead! Well done Dan. BIC Raceway, in Great Yarmouth, saw one of their visiting drivers, 702 Jonny Kelly, finish in 2nd place in round one, but sadly problems saw him complete just 5 laps in round two, and then finish in 12th place in round three. Nick had his best meeting to date, with a 3rd place in round one, then take 2nd place in rounds two and three! Great racing Nick, keep it up!

With a number of stretch limos gracing the track tonight, Midge took the decision to split the finals tonight, taking the top 24 drivers through to the A final, with the remaining 16 drivers taking part in the B Final. Ginge took the chequered flag in the B, with a two lap lead over Tubs. Sam finished in 3rd place with George crossing the line in 4th and 102 Ian Noble, another visitor from BIC Raceway coming home in 5th place.

In the A Final, the battle between Daniel and Shaye continued, with the lead swapping back and forth, until Dan managed to surge ahead of Shaye across the finish line to take the win on splits! Great racing guys! Sleepy came home in 3rd place, with Craig finishing in 4th. 5th place went to Rocket Rob, and Nick completed his greatest meeting to date by crossing the line to take 6th place. Another great final to finish a great night of racing! Well done all!

DESTRUCTION DERBY
To complete the Bangers this evening, we held the traditional DD, and it was packed full of the usual crashtastic mayhem! 731 Harvey Mitchell was the last Junior running, and the overall win went to 100 Cain Harding; well done boys!
Some beautiful artwork there, thank you to everyone who took the time and made the effort to wish Brentwood a Happy Birthday on their body shells.

5th - 510 Olly Goodman - 47/ 298.43
6th - 233 Dave Nash - 43/ 297.88

Divvy managed 41 laps to finish in 7th place, with Dave coming home in 6th with 43 laps. Olly took 5th place, having lost out on splits to Daniel, who finished in 4th. Third place went to Rocket with 52 laps, but Dylan and Shaye battled hard for the win and finished on splits, with Shaye just having the edge on Dylan! Congratulations Shaye, Drifts English Champion 2018! A great competition between Shaye and Dylan, and congratulations (or commiserations) on clinching 2nd place. Dylan, bless him, then went on to donate his trophy to Alfie Parish, making a young man very happy! A lovely gesture Dylan, well done.
Congratulations to all our trophy winners, sadly Rocket left before the trophy presentation and was not there to receive his third place award.

Three straight wins for Shaye ensured he was in the A Final, with Jonny also strong contender, having taken 2nd place each round. Darren grabbed a couple of 3rd place finishes, battling with Mathew each round. The banter was constant, as it always is in this formula, and despite it being a title championship, the guys were still having plenty of fun.

Sadly, Martin failed to make it out for the B Final. Barry completed 25 laps to finish in 4th place, with Paul finishing 3rd with 35 laps. Ian chased hard and crossed the finish line in 2nd place with 38 laps, but raising the chequered flag after 40 laps was our very own Divvy!

Mathew battles with Darren for 3rd place, with Darren just snatching the place on splits! With 38 laps, john crossed the finish line to take 2nd place, but the unstoppable Shaye raised the chequered flag to be crowned Reliant Robins English Champion 2018! Congratulations Shaye, yet another title to add to your repertoire! And still only twelve years old! Amazing! Congratulations to you all, another great championship.
So another great evening draws to a close. Congratulations to all our winners tonight. To complete the trophy line up, two Smart Car awards were given, to 25 Sam Townsend for her tribute to all the charities the club has supported this year, and to one of our younger Junior racers, 158 Brandon Howard.
