JUNIOR SERIES, Rnd 1, (SPONSORED BY MARDAVE) ALLOY BANGERS & ALLOY SUPER BANGERS

Today we launched our brand new series, for the Juniors! This will take place over 3 rounds, today, Sunday 31st March, Sunday 2nd June, and then a Grand Final on Sunday 4th August! And just to make it more fun for the little ankle biters, we're adding a few twists, like today, they raced with the ramp in place! To make it fair for the little guys and girls, we split them into two classes according to their school years, years 1 to 6 (primary school) were in one class, and years 7 to 11 (secondary school) were in their own class. Just so the adults weren't feeling left out, we also had the first round of the Alloy Bangers and the Alloy Super Bangers (Drifts with an Alloy Shell) Track Championships. So all in all, we were set for some hard crashing and racing!

JUNIORS (yrs 1 - 6)
Finally, a chance for our mini-me's to shine, and shine they did! We had 15 entries today, all racing together, and all having plenty of fun, so much so, that in round one, they didn't even complete all the laps before the timer ran out! 103 Luke Poole took the win in round one, with 53 Harry Palmer claiming the chequered flag for rounds 2 and 3! Well done boys! 53 Harry then went on to claim the Final, 4 laps ahead of 103 Luke. Great stuff!

Shaye managed to secure the win in round two, but today was Jack's day, seeing him take the chequered flag for two of the heats and than once again for the final! Congratulations Jack! Ever improving 30 Kory Blake, who's only been racing a couple of months, took two 3rd places in the heats and 4th place in the final; well done Kory, keep it up!

All in all, I think we can say that our new Essex Junior Series has had a great start! Roll on the next round!

Many thanks to all for taking part, helping, etc. today; especially Midge, who spent almost the entire afternoon in the firing line, by sitting/laying in the centre to assist anyone who'd rolled over or got stuck on the ramp; the man's a hero! And many thanks for all the terrific photos!
ALLOY BANGERS
We had 30 entries for the opening round of the Alloy Bangers Track Championship. They were split into two heats of 15, and as with all our alloy meetings, we heard the constant sound of crunching metal on metal! But in addition we saw, (what I think is the closest ever) some really close racing! 46 Charlie Aylward took the first race from 77 Josh Mackey on splits, with 183 Shaye Hunter then doing the same in round two from 461 Paul Aylward. In round three, Shaye then took the win 5 laps ahead of 375 Taylor-Jay Liles. In the second heat, 203 Jack Booker won the first round with 4 laps to spare, from 403 Daniel Jordan. Round two, and Jack struck again, this time 5 laps ahead of 557 Oly Kent; and in round three, Jack just lost out on splits to 403 Daniel. In the All-In Final, 77 Josh Mackey took the chequered flag, 1 lap ahead of 203 Jack Booker, with 183 Shaye Hunter finishing 3rd, 6 laps down on Jack. Great racing guys, well done!

Taking the win in the Alloy DD and out living the rest of the entire field, was 575 Louis Scott Draper, well done Louis!
ALLOY SUPER BANGERS
We had five entries today for the first round of the Alloy Super Bangers Track Championship, and as always these guys put on a splendid show. 71 Dylan Ellis set the bar high, by taking the chequered flag for all three heats, and then went on to win the Final too! 77 Josh Mackey ran a close 2nd each heat, but problems in the final forced him to settle for 5th place. 603 Chris Kerrison managed a couple of 3rd place finishes, with a 4th place in round three. In the final, Chris pulled out all the stops to come home in 2nd place. Not quite a happy bunny was 22 John Hillyard, who took 4th place in both round one and two, then pulled up to take 3rd in round three and 3rd in the final. Suffering immense running problems, 340 Will Brazier had a frustrating afternoon, taking 5th place in rounds one and three, and failing to make it to the track for round two. Will then managed 4th in the final, but still with the wickedest of grins! Any that's what it's all about folks, despite how the car runs, leaving the track with a big grin!

Some great artwork there from all our Super Bangers, especially 340 Will Brazier, who's Super Banger is an exact replica of his full size counterpart!
So as the sun went down (what we could see of it!), it was great to see so many faces leaving the Cow Shed with big smiles! Another successful meeting under our belts! Many thanks to all who took part, and to those who helped the meeting run so smoothly, see you all again very soon
