WRCC TEAM CHALLENGE
​
So after another sticky night of sleep, we were back at the Cow Shed for another day of fun and banter! Today was the turn of the unlimited Bangers Team Challenge, hosted by Wycombe Radio Car Club. Many of you already know that WRCC recently lost their venue to developers, and rather than cancel the meeting, Midge offered the use of Brentwood track to Wycombe so that the meeting may still take place; big cheer to Midge!

We had four teams of ten here today -

The set up was three rounds of heats, 5 team members in each heat, and each round the drivers were shuffled around to give them the opportunity to race with a different set of team mates and opponents. Then an All-In Final with all drivers vying for double points!

A great start there for BRENTWOOD 1, taking the lead with four of their drivers in the top five for heat one and three of their drivers in the top five for heat two! Sadly, 841 Chris Burton had major issues with his car, and unable to solve them, loaded up and left before his first racing, leaving BRENTWOOD 2 a man down. 132 Roy Peace (BURTON) sported the longest car of the day with his 2 1/2 foot long stretch limo; and put it to good use, blocking the track and making it difficult for the race leaders to get through!

Congratulations to 205 Koonta (Brentwood 1); he took the lead at the start at the start, and held it for the entire race; taking the chequered flag and 24 points for Brentwood 1! 101 Dan Beattie (Wycombe) followed suit by taking 2nd place at the start, and again, held it for the entire race! The following places were a battle, with places changing constantly throughout the race. 365 Sleepy (Brentwood 1) managed to finish in 3rd place and 4th place went to 170 Rock (Wycombe). Taking 5th place was 71 Dylan Ellis (Brentwood 1), and coming home in 6th was 383 Divvy (Brentwood 1). In 7th place was 546 Kerry Goldstone (Brentwood 1), 8th was 27 Jamie Townsend (Brentwood 1), 9th was 16 Karl Baker (Wycombe), and finishing in 10th place was 403 Dan Jordan (Brentwood 1). A fast a furious race, with individual battles taking place all around the track! Well-done to everyone, a great show!

Congratulations BRENTWOOD 1, the new TEAM CHAMPIONS! They raced well, and collected the points, a well deserved win! Congratulations also to Wycombe, they fought hard to finish in 2nd place. Commiserations to Burton and Brentwood 2, all raced well and made this a very enjoyable day! The smiles on the faces as they leave is worth far more than the winning trophy! Everyone's a winner!

To complete the day, we had the usual wreckfest of a DD, with many battles being continued! The format here was not last car running as per usual, but last team running! A great DD ensued, with plenty of scores being settled, and much carnage! We got down to three cars left running, and as they were all Wycombe drivers, the result was declared, so at least they took half the tin home! Congratulations guys, a brilliant win, and a great end to a terrific day!
