TEAM BANGERS
Time to launch the 2018 season of Team Racing, and we had a great opening entry of 14 teams, all with a full team of 4 drivers, bar one, The Suicide Squad! Sadly, 25 Sam Townsend was not feeling at all well, and had to be taken home, but thankfully 414 Marc Zanders, who'd come to watch, stepped into Sam's shoes in the "Oddbods" and raced in her place, proving himself to be a great stand-in! "The Undertakers" had booked in, but were unable to attend, so left us with 13 teams racing tonight. Two drivers who were not in a team were placed together to form "Pineapple Express", and defending Champions "Team Chelmsford" were back to defend their title, with a slightly different team line-up for this season.
As per usual, the format was 2 drivers per team, per heat; so once we'd established which two drivers were racing together, it was light's out, and we were off!

A flying start for Team Chelmsford, with a 1st and 2nd in heat one, and a 1st and 3rd in heat two! The Krankies fared well too, with a 3rd and 6th in heat one and 2nd and 4th in heat two! Great racing and tactical wrecking from all, setting the team challenge off to a brilliant start!

"Oddbods" were in 5th place, just two points behind, and the "Suicide Squad came in 6th, with "Team Tango" sitting 7th. Still plenty to play for with another three rounds to go tonight!

So "Team Chelmsford" dominate once again, with the "Essex Pirates" making improvements too. 19 Tubbs picked up some vital points for the "Doh Nutterz" with a 4th place, and 58 Darren did the same for the "Suicide Squad" by coming home in 5th. 50 Ross had a much better result this round for "Elm Park Wreckers" by ensuring his PT was picking up this time, and both 116 Wayne and 317 Kara both collected some much needed points for "The Hill Billies". Half way through and the points now looked like this .....

A great win there for 555 Dan, snatching the lead from 183 Shaye in the last couple of laps. 205 Koonta sustained some damage whilst leading the race, just over half way through, which left him sitting on the top turn unable to move, allowing others to pass and and push him down in the points awards! However, 403 Daniel and 676 Bob compensated by taking 1st and 2nd place in heat two! So now the points were getting interesting.....

So with a final push, "Team Chelmsford" took 1st and 2nd places in both heats to secure their lead and ensure their lead was a good one, ready for the next meeting! 555 Dan pushed hard for "Essex Pirates" and managed 3rd place, just losing out on 2nd place to 205 Koonta on splits! Sadly, his team-mate, 546 Kerry lost a pinion after just five laps, leaving Dan to run solo! 174 Cameron came through for "Team Tango" and grabbed 3rd place in heat two, and "Pineapple Express" shocked themselves by finishing 7th and 8th in heat one! So now it was time to check all the points and see who was sitting where, heading into the next round of the Team Challenge on 23rd June ....

With a massive lead of 69 points, congratulations to "Team Chelmsford", winning round one of the 2018 Team Challenge! A well deserved win with some excellent racing! Congratulations to "Essex Pirates" who currently hold 2nd place and to "The Krankies" for finishing in 3rd place, just 11 points behind the Pirates. "Oddbods" did really well, finishing in 4th place, especially with their last minute driver change. The "Suicide Squad", running with just three drivers, took a final leap into 5th place, pushing "The Hill Billies" down to 6th position. "Team Tango" came home in 7th place, and the "Doh Nutterz" jumped back up to 8th place, pushing "Elm Park Wreckers" down to 9th place. "Team Palmer" finished in 10th position, with "The Smurfs" now sitting in 11th, "Team Pullen" in 12th place, and gallantly bringing up the rear, with just two drivers is "Pineapple Express".

A great start to the Team Challenge, and I for one am looking forward to the next round, 23rd June, All Farina's (SWB)!
DD
The evening finished with the usual crash, bang, wallop of the DD. 339 Abbie Pullen was the last Junior running, just before she went up in smoke! And the DD win went to 203 Jack Booker, well done you two!
DRIFTS
Tonight saw round two of the Club Championship for the Drifts, and with no 319 Daz Fuller or 71 Dylan Ellis to contend with, there was much to gain from taking part in this round. We had twelve drifts here on this wet and windy evening, so we split them into two heat of six.

Three straight wins there for 117 Darren, with brother 974 Danny finishing 3rd, 2nd and 3rd. So a great start for the Bodle brothers who have some catching up to do as they missed out on round one! 203 Jack fared well too, with 2nd, 3rd and 2nd. some great racing and some skillful drifting from all! 76 Matthew made his debut tonight, but had to retire his car after just one heat.

183 Shaye dominated his heat, with three straight wins, and 383 Divvy fought hard to keep up with him! 233 Dave chased hard too, and gained 3rd, 4th and 3rd. 603 Chris made his debut in this formula tonight, and managed to finish 4th, 5th and 5th. Both 50 Ross and 68 Jade had missed the first round, so were keen to make up for lost time, but sadly Ross had problems and retired his car after the first two rounds.

114 Ian took the win in the B Final, with a 3 lap lead over 233 Dave, who in turn was three laps ahead of 68 Jade. Sadly, 76 Matthew and 50 Ross were unable to make it to the track.

974 Danny just pipped 117 Darren and 183 Shaye to the winning post in a classic battle for the race, all finishing on splits! 203 Jack pushed hard to keep up with them and managed to cross the line in 4th place, just two laps down, with 403 Daniel coming home in 5th place and 383 Divvy finishing 6th.

A full house there for 183 Shaye with three heat wins and taking the chequered flag for the Final too, giving him maximum points and promoting him to the top of the leader board! Well done Shaye! 27 Jamie was extremely please with his performance tonight, with 4th, 3rd, 4th and 2nd in the Final pushing Jamie up the points chart from 3rd place to 2nd! Congratulations Jamie, was good to see the big smile this put on your face tonight! Some great results too for 58 Darren, who had said before the meeting started, he was only there "to get in the way, lol!" Well done to everyone who took part tonight. It was great to see a full heat of Robins on the track.
