"DICKIE BOY" ALLY BANGER SERIES, ROUND ONE

Tonight was not the first visit of the Ally Bangers this year, back in January we had the Ally Civil War, but this was the first round of the Ally Banger Series, sponsored by Richie "Dickie Boy" Jarrard.  Having put the series together in 2016, and it proving to be a popular and successful series, Richie has tweaked some of the rules this year, and so we set off once more, with the tin chasing the tin!

TAKING PART TONIGHT WERE -

33 Jay Ravell, 65 Bradley Jarrard, 77 Josh Mackey, 103 Paul Foreman, 114 Ian Ardley, 142 Steve Collins, 165 Richie "Dickie Boy" Jarrard, 410 Alvin Harvey, 502 Aaron Lydon, 512 Lewis Harvey, 515 Conor Harvey, 546 Kerry Goldstone, 551 Michael Collins, 590 Mickey Galloway, 654 Ozzy Roberts, and 710 Billy Harvey.

ROUND ONE

Ozzy kicked his visit from Birmingham by turning it around on the back straight and causing as much carnage as he possibly could!  He did manage to register two laps, but did he care?  did he heck!  He was here for the crash and to cause as much disruption as he could!  Michael managed to avoid the carnage for the majority of the race, although he did sustain some damage, but not enough to prevent him from making it through to the finish line to take the chequered flag!  Conor came home in 2nd place, two laps behind, with Kerry surprising himself by making it across the line in 3rd, taking the place on splits from Josh!  Dickie Boy completed twenty laps to take 5th position, and Billy came home in 6th place.

ROUND TWO

Ozzy continued his mission of destruction, joined by Jay and Aaron.  Between the three of them, no one was safe from some degree of damage, but again, Michael managed to sneak through and took the chequered flag once more.  Conor again finished in 2nd place, this time six laps down on Michael, and Steve finished in 3rd place three laps behind Conor.  Josh took 4th place on splits from Alvin, with Kerry finishing in 6th place.

ROUND THREE

The destruction continued in round three, with much damage handed out to all!  Completing a hat-trick, Michael once again sneaked through and was first across the finish line, with Josh following home in 2nd place on splits from Dickie Boy.  Kerry came home in 4th place, Paul finished in 5th, and in 6th place was Ian.

FINAL

The final was the usual crashtastic affair, with wreckers and racers all working hard to achieve their personal goal. Lewis, Jay and Mickey were all out there, but all three failed to register a lap for various reasons.  Kerry finished in 13th place with just six laps, having sustained some considerable damage, and once realising he was not up in the placings, turned around and joined the wreckfest!  Also finishing with six laps was Aaron, taking 12th place, whilst Ian finished 11th with seven laps.  Paul finished in 10th place, also with seven laps, and it was eight laps each for Alvin and Ozzy, Ozzy just a touch ahead of Alvin.  Eleven laps gave Steve 7th place, with Josh coming home 6th place with fifteen laps.  Young Bradley raced well to complete sixteen laps and finished in 5th place, with big brother Dickie Boy coming home in 4th place, just one lap ahead of him.  Billy finished in 3rd place, having completed 20 laps, while Michael had to settle for 2nd place this time, completing 29 laps.  Crossing the line in 1st place, with the full 35 laps, and claiming his place in the end of year Champion of Champions was Conor, achieving his main goal of the night!  Congratulations Conor, a worthy win, and you join Olly Goodman in the C of C, the winner of the A Final at the Civil War.

DD

The DD was the usual metal-bending affair, with the drivers dropping out in turn.  Bradley was the last running Junior, and was also left to battle with the last remaining adult, Aaron.  They battle for a while, with the banter also flying, along the lines of an adult bullying a child!  But Aaron, being the big kid that he is (aren't all the men in this sport?) wasn't giving up easily, and continued until Bradley could run no more, giving him the overall win!

ABS BANGERS

The plastics had just as much fun as the Ally's tonight, and I think because it was a non-points meeting, many who usually race decided to turn it around and have a crashfest of their own!  Quite a few ran without transponders, so registered no laps.

HEAT ONE

46 Charlie Aylward, 50 Ross Mason, 55 Barry Mason, 68 Jade Mason, 71 Dylan (Irish Champ) Ellis, 77 Josh Mackey, 81 Billie, 129 Simon Warner, 281 Teddy Warner, 316 Scott Smith, 383 Darren "Divvy" Goldberg, 416 Alfie Baker, 461 Paul Aylward, 512 Lewis Harvey, 515 Brad Allkins, 515 Conor Harvey, 516 Nikki Allkins, 557 Daniel Wilson, and 974 Danny Bodle.

ROUND ONE

Some fantastic crashing taking place in this one!  Carnage all around the track, and the banter was flying across the track all evening!  Dylan (did you know he won the Irish Open last weekend?) was first across the finish line, with Brad following nine laps later.  Young Charlie came home in 3rd place, with Barry following him across the line to take 4th.  Alfie finished in 5th place, with Divvy coming home in 6th.

ROUND TWO

Josh was the first one through the carnage to reach the finish line, with Paul finishing three laps behind to take 2nd place.  Dylan (who won the Irish open last weekend), came across the line on the same lap as Paul and took the 3rd place position.  Brad came home in 4th place, whilst Charlie finished 5th and Barry came home in 6th.

ROUND THREE

Dylan (fresh back from Ireland, where he won the Open Championship), crossed the finish line just a fraction ahead of Josh and secured 1st place, Josh having to settle for 2nd.  Paul came home in 3rd place with Scott finishing in 4th.  Young Billie claimed 5th place, and coming home in 6th place was Daniel.

HEAT TWO

16 Denny Townsend, 19 James Donovan, 25 Carl Maslen, 33 Joe Maslen, 48 Connie Thorby, 114 Ian Ardley, 146 Jack Aylward, 251 Connor Shields, 258 Dave Lungly, 371 Sean Foley, 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, 456 Nathan Roberts, 502 Aaron Lydon, 590 Mickey Galloway, 618 Bill Thorby, 662 Simon "Midge" Alexander, 971 Olivia Foley, and 999 Peter Townsend.

ROUND ONE

Not quite so much wrecking in the heat, but still as much banter and laughter!  Ian made is first across the finish line with a five lap lead, and Joe just managed to clinch 2nd place on splits from his Dad, Carl.  Taylor came home in 4th place, with Sean crossing the line next to take 5th place.  Coming home in 6th place was James, two laps behind Sean.

ROUND TWO

Joe took the win this time, six laps ahead of the field!  Taylor crossed the line in 2nd place with Ian coming home in 3rd.  Connor took 4th place, whilst Carl came home in 5th place and Jack took 6th.

ROUND THREE

Another great finish for Joe, again, six laps ahead, this time from Connor who took 2nd place on splits from Carl. Taylor finished 4th, with Jack coming home in 5th place and Olivia finishing in 6th.

ALL-IN FINAL

Thirty-eight bangers took to the track, but with almost half of them running without transponders, the result looked otherwise!  The carnage was exceptional, with every section of the track used to its full advantage!  Olivia completed two laps before breaking down, whilst Hubby Sean and young Peter both completed four laps.  Mickey completed five laps, Divvy and Nikki completed six laps, and James finished with seven laps.  Denny registered ten laps, Teddy finished with thirteen laps, and Barry came home with twenty laps.  Coming home in 10th place with twenty-one laps was Connor, while twenty-five laps gave Taylor 9th place.  Charlie finished in 8th place with twenty-nine laps, whilst Carl completed thirty-three laps to take 7th place.  Brad finished in 6th place with thirty-five laps, and Paul battled with Jack, both finishing with thirty-six laps; Paul taking 5th place and Jack just having the edge to finish in front of him in 4th place.  Joe came home in 3rd place with forty laps, Josh finished 2nd with forty-three laps, and crossing the line to take the chequered flag once again was Dylan (did you know he's the new Irish open Champion?)  Congratulations Dylan (now sporting his Irish roof grade), and well done to everyone who took part tonight, making yet another good meeting here at Brentwood.

DD

The DD was the usual mixture of wrecking, follow-ins and pinning to make a great wreckfest!  Divvy found himself rendered helpless on the post and wires, put there by his own protege, Billie!  One by one they dropped by the wayside, until Billie took the title of last Junior still running, and the overall winner was Connor Shields.  Well-done guys, a worthy win!

RELIANT ROBINS

Nine little Robins took to the track this evening, with the obvious absence of Paul Workman, Craig Cheverall, and Dan Barrell.  these little guys may only have three wheels, but they can be just as fast and aggressive as the four wheeled bangers!  Taking part tonight -

25 Sam Townsend, 25 Carl Maslen, 50 Ross Mason, 55 Barry Mason, 68 Jade Mason, 77 Josh Mackey, 371 Sean Foley, 383 Darren "Divvy" Goldberg, and 551 Michael Collins.

ROUND ONE

A great start for Michael, flying round the oval to cross the finish line in 1st place with a two lap lead.  Josh came home in 2nd place, with Divvy crossing the line to take 3rd.  Carl was next across the line with Ross two laps behind him.  Barry came home in 6th place, Jade finished 7th, Sean came home in 8th and Sam finished 9th.

ROUND TWO

Quick off the starting block, Michael soon took the lead once more, holding his place to cross the finish line in 1st place once again.  Josh again finished in 2nd place, with Carl coming home in 3rd.  Ross finished 4th, with Divvy taking the 5th place and Barry coming home in 6th.  Sean finished 7th this time, Jade dropped to 8th place, and once again, Sam finished in 9th.

ROUND THREE

The third round, and for the third time, Michael was 1st across the finish line!  Josh again came home in 2nd, with Carl again taking 3rd place.  Divvy came home in 4th place, Barry finished 5th, and coming home in 6th place was Ross.  Jade finished in 7th place, Sean finished 8th and Sam came home in 9th place.

FINAL

Sam managed ten laps before retiring for the race, awarding her with 9th place.  Barry completed thirteen laps to finish in 8th place, and Jade came home in 7th place with fifteen laps.  Taking 6th place was Ross with twenty-two laps, and with twenty-three laps, Sean finished 5th.  Divvy completed twenty-five laps to finish in 4th place, with Carl coming home in 3rd place with twenty-eight laps.  Josh came home in 2nd place with thirty-three laps, but raising the chequered flag for the fourth time tonight was Michael, the 2016 Champion!  Well done Michael, a great show of why that silver roof is yours!

DRIFTS

Finally tonight, we have the Drifts, thirteen well turned out 1/10th scale cars, split into two heats.

HEAT ONE

37 Terry Hall, 68 Jade Mason, 71 Dylan Ellis, 125 Nathan Webb, 316 Scott Smith, 551 Michael Collins, and 974 Danny Bodle.

ROUND ONE

Terry, Danny and Dylan (did i remember to tell you he's the new Irish Champion?) were the early leaders, and battled for the lead position.  The lead changed between the three of them a number of times, before Terry crossed the line in 1st place, just a smidgen in front of Danny, with Dylan (The Irish Open Champ) finishing 3rd, a lap behind with 29 laps.  Michael also finished with 29 laps to take 4th place, and coming home in 5th place with 28 laps was Nathan.  Scott completed 22 laps to finish in 6th place, and having retired early, Jade finished 7th place.

ROUND TWO

Another great battle for the lead, this time between Nathan and Danny.  Nathan gained the advantage this time and crossed the line first to raise the chequered flag, Danny having to settle for 2nd place.  Dylan (did you know he Champion of Ireland?) came home in 3rd place with 29 laps, and 26 laps gave Terry 4th place.  Michael completed 24 laps to finish in 5th, Jade came home in 6th with 12 laps, and Scott finished 7th with 10 laps.

ROUND THREE

Third time lucky for Danny as he finally got his long awaited win, with Terry finishing in 2nd place, a lap behind.  Dylan (did you know....?) finished 3rd, also with 29 laps, and in 4th place with 27 laps was Michael.  Scott came home with 24 laps in 5th place, and Nathan finished with 17 laps in 6th place.  Jade, still having problems, finished 7th with just 3 laps.

HEAT TWO

19 James Donovan, 77 Josh Mackey, 114 Ian Ardley, 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, 590 Mickey Galloway, and 662 Simon "Midge" Alexander.

ROUND ONE

Making his debut in drifts, Ian made an impressive start by taking the chequered flag in his first race!  Josh just beat Midge to the finish line with 29 laps, and took 2nd place, with Midge taking 3rd in his borrowed car.  James came home in 4th place with 28 laps, Taylor finished with 26 laps in 5th place, and 6th place went to Mickey with 22 laps.

ROUND TWO

A close finish for this one, with splits dividing the top three.  Josh crossed the finish line in 1st place, with James taking 2nd and Midge again finishing 3rd.  Taylor came home in 4th place with 29 laps, Mickey finished 5th with 27 laps, and Ian finished 6th with 21 laps.

ROUND THREE

Josh just managed to inch in front of Ian to take the win, again on splits, with Ian having to settle for 2nd place. Midge again finished 3rd with 29 laps, and James came home with 28 laps to take 4th place.  Mickey completed 26 laps to finish in 5th place, and sadly, Taylor failed to make it to the track.

B FINAL

68 Jade Mason, 316 Scott Smith, 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, 551 Michael Collins, and 590 Mickey Galloway.

Scott had to leave, so didn't make it to the track.  Mickey found himself disqualified after ignoring warning about driving badly.  Jade completed just 4 laps, but was awarded 3rd place after mickey's disqualification.  Taylor came home in 2nd place with 37 laps, and taking the chequered flag was Michael.

A FINAL

19 James Donovan, 37 terry Hall, 71 Dylan Ellis, 77 Josh Mackey, 114 Ian Ardley, 125 Nathan Webb, 662 Simon "Midge" Alexander, and 974 Danny Bodle.

The top three drivers all came home with 40 laps, with splits placing Danny in 3rd place, Nathan in 2nd  and Dylan (he of irish fame!) raised the chequered flag. Congratulations Dylan, (by the way, have I told you that Dylan is the Irish Open Champion?), and well done to all who raced tonight!
