ESSEX JUNIOR BANGER CHAMPIONSHIP

Thirty young Junior Banger drivers made their way to the cow shed today, for their very own Essex Championship.  Not only were they here to chase for the glory, but their very own roof grade too!  A few new faces graced the track, either making their debut at Brentwood, or their debut in RC's altogether!  The atmosphere was full of excitement and anticipation amongst the youngsters, and even some expectation and competitivness amongst the grown-ups too!

The sun shone brightly, though thankfully it wasn't quiet as hot as it has been the last few days, and there were plenty of smiley faces as we lined up to start the first race.  Divided into two heats, it was all to play for on this Junior special day!  Lights out and away we go!

A great start there for 183 Shaye, with three straight win, as expected, but a great start also for 734 Jimmy, with two 3rd and a 2nd place finish!  639 Alley enforced the GIRL POWER by coming 2nd and 4th, but sadly was unable to make it to the track for the third round.  Some close racing too for the remaining drivers, with some choosing to just wreck and play!  And they all walked away at the end of their races with big smiles, each having had a good time no matter what the final results were!  Well done kiddies!

Yet another full house from 183 Shaye, dominating each race from start to finish! (I think we'll have to kidnap him next meeting and find somewhere to lock him away, give someone else a chance! lol).  166 Dougie had a great meeting, with 2nd, 3rd, 3rd in the heats and 2nd in the final, great results!  731 Harvey fared well for his first meeting to the club, and his Dad, 217 Wayne did well too, once he'd got his transponder in the right place and started recording laps!  Another newbie to the club, 888 Matthew, who apparently raced a few years ago and fancied making a return to the sport, fared well in the hire car, picking up a couple of 2nd places.  58 Darren had problems with his F2 and had to miss the first two rounds, managed to make it out for round three, and then failed again in the final, so not such a good afternoon for him.  Shaye now leads the club points, with Dougie now sitting in 2nd place and Bob dropping down to 3rd.

Many thanks to everyone who took part today, and congratulations to all our winners.  Many thanks to to everyone who supplied the photos, really appreciated.  Yet another great meeting under our belt!

We're back next week, Saturday 28th April, for the first round of the 4-man Team Challenge, and if the past two years are anything to go by, we're in for some more great racing!

Take care!
