CORTINA/CAPRI/SIERRA BANGERS

& 1300 STOCK CARS

So with Summer well and truly over, Autumn showing it's colours, and the nights drawing in, where better to be than at our favourite place in Brentwood?  Well that was obviously the thought in many minds, judging by the number of drivers in attendance tonight!  Welcome to our newbies, Harrison, Harley (Bam Bam), and Hayden Gillham, Joe Lewis, and Ethan Webb, all Juniors helping to swell our numbers!  Welcome also to Michael Thomas, Alex Evans, and Daniel Lake, also joining us for their debut, and welcome back to those of you we haven't much of throughout the Summer months.

20x Juniors, 37x Bangers, & 24x 1300 Stock Cars.

Tonight saw the return of the Cortina, Capri and Sierra Ford Bangers, popular shells for many; and the last but one points meeting of the 1300 Stock Cars.

Well done all, you lads and lasses never fail us!

Heat One

Great racing from 555 Dan Morgan, taking the win in round one by 3 laps, and then in round 2 by 2 laps.

570 Rob Gymer was the victor in round three.

365 Sleepy pushed hard to catch the leaders, but had to settle for 2nd, 3rd, then 2nd.

508 Daniel Lake had an excellent start by crossing the line to take 4th place in his first race!

The Flying Carrot, 58 Darren Howard, picked up two 5th's and a 6th, while 19 Tubs, usually only out in the Bangers in Team Meetings, picked up 3rd, 4th and 7th.

Heat Two

Some grand racing in this heat too, with 645 Paul Weedon grabbing two wins and a 2nd place.

A very shocked Taz, 329 Nick Parish, took the chequered flag in round three; his face was a picture!

383 Divvy was happy with two 2nd's and a 3rd.

Final

There was some terrific racing in the Final, a gruelling 70 lap race, with 365 Sleepy the victor, just a lap ahead of 555 Dan Morgan645 Paul Weedon followed home on 66 laps, with 19 Tubs taking 4th place on 60 laps.  Crossing the line to take 5th was 802 Alfie Barnard with 54 laps, and in 6th place with 53 laps was 414 Marc Zanders, who took the place on splits from 6 Alfie Jones.  Finishing in 8th place was 329 Nick Parish, in 9th place was 100 Cain Harding, and 10th went to 126 Marc Johnson.  Well done guys, and well done everyone who took part, a great race!

DESTRUCTION DERBY

The DD was a very chaotic affair, with the majority of Banger drivers staying for the Crash Fest!  The carnage was gruesome, and the wreckage plenty, so congratulations to 303 James Nolan for hanging in there and becoming the last Junior running!  No mean feat!  Taking the overall win, and getting extremely excited about it, was 21 Phil Roggerman, congratulations Phil, we could see you were pleased with your win!

Brilliant driving from 555 Dan Morgan gave him three heat wins and shows why he is our current Track Championship points leader!  Try as he might, 107 Jordan Webb chased hard, but was unable to catch him, so settled for 2nd place each round, well done Jordan!  Our young Junior, 59 Caitlyn Howard raced well too, and finished in 3rd place each round, well done girlie!

7th - 126 Marc Johnson - 48/ 235.32

8th - 25 Sam Warman - 27/ 236.32

Again, we had some excellent racing in Heat two; and a great win for 570 Rob Gymer in round one, with 383 Divvy coming home two laps later.  Divvy then had a great run in round two, and then took the win in round three, with 645 Paul Weedon finishing in 2nd place just a lap behind.  But (and I know I'm biased) I have to heap praise on my Grandson, 414 Marc Zanders.  Until this morning, he didn't even know he was racing a 1300 Stock, had no chance to practice with it, and went out and raced his little heart out, finishing 3rd on splits in round one, taking the win in round two, and then 3rd in round three!  A brilliant start to his 1300 Stock career, and yes, I am extremely proud of him!  I know I wasn't the only one to praise him, Divvy told me how hard he chased him in round two, but just couldn't catch him!

A fantastic 80 lap race for the A Final, and driven by all at a menacing pace!  First across the line, taking maximum points tonight, was 555 Dan Morgan, with a 7 lap lead!  Next across the line was 414 Marc Zanders, a lap up on 570 Rob Gymer in 3rd.  107 Jordan Webb came home in 4th place, with 383 Divvy finishing in 5th.  662 Midge crossed the line to take 6th place, with 29 Stitch finishing 7th and 371 Sean Foley coming home in 8th.  Well done guys, a blistering race, full of entertainment, and that's what it's all about!

So another great evening comes to a close here at the Cow Shed.  Many thanks to Midge & Co for hosting yet another great meeting, it's always good to hear plenty of laughter at a race meeting, and tonight there was plenty of that!

Many thanks to all the drivers who took part tonight, you all certainly provided us spectators with loads of action, and 20 Juniors, I don't think we've ever had that many before, well done all.

Thanks also go to all those who provided the photos below, without you guys, the website would be far less colourful and exciting to look at!

Have a good week everyone, see you all very soon
