ANY SHELL BANGERS & 1300 STOCK CARS
Well after five long and boring months we are finally back racing at "The Place To Race"! Oh how we've missed it all; the racing, the crashing, the banter, the smell of motors burning out, the cracking of shells, but for me the most, the social!
A lot of work was put in by The Brentwood Crew to ensure that the track is a safe place to return to. A CCTV camera system was purchased, TV screens and monitors were donated, all to provide live feed so that spectators could watch the racing from their pit area. Pitting area's were marked out with tape to ensure the "1m rule" was adhered to. A traffic light system was created with a set of instructions. A counter was added in the shop, distancing our lovely ladies Abigail Alexander and Cheryl Palmer, keeping them safe too, but still able to provide us all with their wonderful drinks & snacks, and of course all your racing spares. A "one way" system was created walking in and out of the unit. Rules & Regs were printed out and hung all around the unit as well as on the facebook page. Track and Trace forms were created. Hard work, but worth it to see the smiles again! We even had Brentwood RC Raceway face masks printed for those who wish to wear them!

As we are no longer running points championships for the remainder of 2020, we set up racing in four rounds of mixed heats, with the biggest rule of all, HAVE FUN! And have fun they did! There may have only been 12 cars on the track at any one time, but the crashes were just as fast and furious! It's good to be back!

Some great results there! Heat wins for 32 Charlie Ruskin, 383 Divvy, 195 Jaydan Webb, 365 Sleepy and 170 Rock, with 101 Dan Beattie and 555 Dan Morgan both claiming the chequered flag twice! If there was an award for driver of the meeting, it surely would have gone to 414 Marc Zanders, who took 3 wins and a 2nd place in the Bangers, and 4 wins in the 1300 Stock Cars! I guess all that on-line racing he's been doing during lock-down has paid off! There were also heat wins in the 1300 Stock cars for 555 Dan Morgan (x2), 195 Jordan Webb, and 383 Divvy, who drove his cars for some of the evening by standing in front of one of the screens rather than track-side!
