DRIFTS ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP,
RELIANT ROBINS ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP
& BIG VAN BANGERS
Back to the track once again, and taking to the track tonight was the 10th scale Drifts and Reliant Robins, both vying for the title of English Champion 2019, and with the current holder of both titles, 183 Shaye Hunter, not present, new Champions was to be crowned in both formulas! Everyone was dreaming of painting the St George's Cross on their roof for the next year. In addition to the two Championships, we also had Juniors and Seniors racing the Big Van Bangers, always plenty of fun to be had there! So I guess we were in for an action packed evening!
DRIFTS ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP
HEAT ONE - So with great anticipation, our first set of drivers lined up, hoping to accumulate enough points to get them into the Championship race. It was a great start for 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, winning round one on splits from 555 Dan Morgan, with 203 Jack Booker finishing in 3rd place. Onto round two and 375 Taylor-Jay took the win once again, this time a lap ahead of 555 Dan, with 203 Jack taking 3rd place once again. In round three, 375 Taylor-Jay made it a hat-trick of wins by raising the chequered flag again, two laps in front of 203 Jack, with 166 Dougie Donovan finishing in 3rd place. In round two, 71 Dylan took the win again, this time 6 laps ahead of 19 Tubs, and 3rd place went to 369 Tom Pracy. CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL - By the time the heats had finished, 233 Dave Nash had departed and 383 Divvy had retired, so we decided to place the remaining 10 drivers in the Championship Final together. With 375 Taylor-Jay Liles and 71 Dylan Ellis on equal points, a coin was tossed, 375 Taylor won the toss, and opted for the outside line, placing 71 Dylan on pole position on the inside line! So we lined them up, wished them luck and set them off! All drivers pushed hard from the off, and the battle was on! 375 Taylor took the lead on the first lap, but by the end of the second lap, the unstoppable 71 Dylan had passed him. 375 Taylor pushed hard and stayed with him for as long as possible, but as I say, the unstoppable 71 Dylan began to pull ahead and increase his lead. 60 gruelling laps ensued and by the time 71 Dylan completed his 60 laps, he was 7 laps ahead of 375 Taylor! Incredible! 555 Dan Morgan came home in 3rd place, two laps behind 375 Taylor, and 19 Tubs just lost out on a podium finish on splits! Finishing in 5th place with 49 laps was 203 Jack Booker, and 6th place went to 29 Stitch, with his brother 166 Dougie Donovan coming home a lap behind him, and snatching 7th place on splits from 329 Nick Parish in 8th and 595 L J Saunders in 9th, all three on 46 laps. Sadly 369 Tom Pracy had completed just one lap before having to retire his car from the race. An exciting, action packed race, well done guys!
So, congratulations

FINAL - We had 9 non-runners tonight leaving us with a field of 31. 661 Martin Ashworth dropped out as his school bus took it's break for half -term early, leaving 69 Danni Edwards, 546 Kerry Goldstone and 619 Adam Brown to face the onslaught of destruction in their buses! 619 Adam managed to still complete 32 laps and finished in 15th place (no clue as to how!), 546 Kerry completed 12 laps and came home in 29th place, and 69 Danni managed 5 laps before her bus gave up the ghost! Well done guys, you were under pressure tonight, but all raised the biggest laughs of the night! 403 Daniel Jordan completed a full-house, having won all three of his heats, and now the final too. 203 Jack Booker came home in 2nd place, with 365 Sleepy coming in 3rd. 572 Rocket crossed the line in 4th place, and 5th went to 555 Dan Morgan. 802 Alfie Barnard snatched 6th place from 54 Alec Quarman on splits, and 409 Stuart Farquhar managed to finish in 8th. 58 Darren Howard came home in 9th place, and on his first visit to the Cow Shed, 64 Kevin Harrington completed 36 laps to take 10th place. Well done all, great racing, great wrecking and a brilliant laugh! That's what it's all about here at Brentwood RC.

DESTRUCTION DERBY
After having an action-packed Final, we closed the evening with a fun-filled DD. The buses were finished off once and for all, as were many of the vans too! Last Senior running was 212 Alan Flack, but taking the DD win was the last Junior running, 527 Adam Donovan, well done Adam, so good to see a Junior taking the win for a change!

Well done everyone, a great evening, with so much laughter my ears were still ringing when I got home! Many thanks to TEAM BRENTWOOD, another well run meeting under the belt. And many thanks to all who provided photos, especially Cheryl Teece who provides me with so many each evening, it takes me a day to sort through them all! (Just kidding Cheryl, keep them coming, they're great!)

We're back next Saturday, 26th Oct with 1300 Stock Cars, and the Halloween Themed Hearse & Limo Bangers! Don't miss it, it'll be another good'un!
