TEAM FINALE!
Tonight saw the conclusion of this year's Team Challenge, and boy, what a challenge it has been! A total of 13 teams have taken part throughout the rounds, resulting in them being divided into groups for tonight's final round. The top 3 teams, TEAM CHELMSFORD, TEAM BLACK, and THE ANT HILLMOB, as top points scores were entered into Group One, vying for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall. In Group Two we had THE KRANKIES, THE MELBOURNE FLAPS, and THE MELTS, vying for 4th, 5th and 6th places; and in Group Three we had TEAM BOB THE BUILDER, ELM PARK WRECKERS, AND WOBBLY MAFIA joined by TEAM ZIPPY, who were making their debut in the Team Challenge.
GROUP ONE
TEAM CHELMSFORD - 29 Chris Conn, 54 Alec Quarman, 183 Shaye Hunter, 676 Bob Beswick.
TEAM BLACK - 203 Jack Booker, 546 Kerry Goldstone.
ANT HILL MOB - 71 Dylan Ellis, 125 Nathan Webb, 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, 551 Michael Collins.
It had always been close between these three teams throughout the rounds, with TEAM BLACK and TEAM CHELMSFORD finishing joint leaders after round one back in March. Then in May, TEAM CHELMSFORD and ANT HILL MOB finished on the same points, placing TEAM CHELMSFORD in the lead, with TEAM BLACK just one point behind, and ANT HILL MOB in 3rd place. After the 3rd round in July, TEAM CHELMSFORD were leading with 765 points, TEAM BLACK were sitting 2nd with 710 points, and ANT HILL MOB were in 3rd with 653 points. Tonight the points were all zeroed and the battle was on to see who would win the championship! The format changed too, with all team members now out racing together. With only two members attending, this placed a lot of pressure on TEAM BLACK, but they were happy just to be in the top group anyway!
