THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN COMES TO BRENTWOOD!

We all love a great Ally meeting, and this was a great Ally meeting!  The Battle of Britain, a 6-man team event, with all ally cars; and add to the mix Ally Superbangers; what more could an Ally fan ask for?  Well, maybe to win, of course!  We had 6 teams today

ANT HILL MOB     ELM PARK MELTS     NO FEAR!     PURPLE PLONKERS     THE SHUNTERS     TEAM BLACK

(note the colour codes)

A pretty impressive crew, I must say!

So, with photos taken and votes cast for Best Presented, it was time for the battle to commence!

6-MAN TEAMS

HEAT 1 - 71 Dylan Ellis, 502 Aaron Lydon, 551 Michael Collins, 25 Sam Townsend, 50 Ross Mason, 114 Ian Ardley, 68 James Hutchings, 89 Callum Hutchings, 441 Timmy Deans, 103 Paul Foreman, 159 Graeme Daborn, 618 Bill Thorby, 515 Conor Harvey, 710 Billy Harvey, 778 Adrian "Slimadey" Porter, 46 Charlie Aylward, 77 Josh Mackey, 546 Kerry Goldstone.

So round one got under way, with a crashing effect!  The sound of bending ally resounded around the track, with chaos and wreckage the order of the day!  For those wanting to race for the points, it was a difficult time, get hit too hard, and you're rendered unable to move, with body shells buckling under and catching on wheels and chassis!  Picking his way through the madness with his unique expertise was Dylan, who crossed the line in 1st place, with Conor coming home in 2nd place, 3 laps behind him. Josh managed to push his way through to take 3rd place, with team mate Charlie finishing in 4th.  James managed to snatch 5th place on splits from Billy.

For round two the winning position went to a junior!  Charlie pushed his way through and raced well to cross the line and raise the flag.  Dylan finished in 2nd place, 6 laps behind, with Slimadey coming home in 3rd.  Billy took 4th place on splits from Callum, and Paul limped home in 6th place.

On to round three, and it was Michael who crossed the line 1st, with team mate Dylan taking 2nd place of split from Josh.  Slimadey came home in 4th place, Graeme finished 5th and Charlie took 6th place.

In round four, it was Slimadey who Shunted his way through to raise the chequered flag, with Josh coming home to take 2nd place.  3rd place went to Dylan, and Graeme came home in 4th.  Billy finished in 5th place, with Callum snatching 6th on splits.

HEAT 2 - 33 Jay Ravell, 125 Nathan Webb, 165 Richie "Dickie Boy" Jarrard, 19 James Donovan, 27 Jamie Townsend, 68 Jade Mason, 26 Cliff Hutchings, 268 Buster Hutchings, 442 Ricky Deans, 129 Simon Warner, 142 Steve Collins, 974 Danny Bodle, 110 Collin "Earoles" Roberts, 512 Lewis Harvey, 410 Alvin Harvey, 146 Jack Aylward, 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, 461 Paul Aylward.

Heat two was just as exciting to watch as heat one, with carnage all around!  Lewis was the first to pick his way through in round one and crossed the line 3 laps ahead of the rest!  Paul came home in 2nd place, with Jay finishing a lap behind him to take 3rd.  Earoles came home in 4th place, and Jack finished in 5th, 10 laps ahead of Cliff in 6th.

In round two, Buster was first across the line, raising the flag for the first time for No Fear!  Earoles came home in 2nd place, with team mate Lewis following him across the line to take 3rd.  Cliff finished in 4th place, with Alvin snatching 5th place on splits from Steve and Taylor-Jay.

On to round three, and a close finish for Paul, taking the win on splits from Dickie Boy.  Danny came home in 3rd with Nathan finishing 4th.  5th place went to Earoles and Lewis came home in 6th.

Round four saw Paul take the chequered flag once again, 3 laps clear of Buster in 2nd place, or took the place on splits from Danny.  Dickie Boy came home in 4th place, with Jack finishing 5th and Earoles finishing in 6th.

So with the scores all added, we now knew that the top two team,  THE SHUNTERS and TEAM BLACK, were to go head-to-head for the final; congratulations guys, you both did really well!

All things considered, ALL teams did really well.  The racing was extremely hard, and the wrecking was brutal!  The damage was beyond belief, and the carnage on track was awesome.  There were no losers today, all teams did really well, making this the best ally meeting I've ever seen!

So everyone crowded around the track to watch THE SHUNTERS and TEAM BLACK slug it out for the win.  Whichever car was the last car running would win for their team.  The atmosphere was electric as they lined up on the start line, 6 SHUNTERS, 6 TEAM BLACK, who would the victors be?

The start was declared, and both teams got stuck right in!  The wrecking was tremendous, as they fought, not only to eliminate their opponents, but to maintain movement from their own cars.  The t-boning, run-ins, and head-ons were brutal, as one by one, cars were bent beyond recognition.  TEAM BLACK suffered heavily under the relentless onslaught from the SHUNTERS.  Kerry was one of the first victims, ending up caught on the post and wires, where he then helplessly received hit after hit, unable to free himself.  As the cars dropped out, we were left with 3 SHUNTERS vs 1 TEAM BLACK.  Josh fought well, alone now in his quest, but the determination of the SHUNTERS shone through, and eventually Josh had to admit defeat, giving the SHUNTERS the win, and TEAM BLACK having to settle for 2nd place. Congratulations to both teams, both raced well during the heats, fighting their way through the carnage from some awesome wreckers in the heats, and both giving their all in the final.  The thing about the ally bangers, is no matter how good a driver you are, one wrong hit can leave you unable to move!

A great final and a great meeting all round, well done everyone!

For the bangers, the afternoon finished with an all in DD.  Again, just like the final, the hits were brutal!  Last two cars running were Cliff Hutching of the NO FEAR! team, and Paul Aylward of TEAM BLACK.  Well done guys, worthy winners!

ALLY SUPER BANGERS

There were 6 drivers today who were gluttons for punishment!  Not only were they flat out repairing their Ally Bangers for the Battle of Britain, they bought along their Ally Super Bangers to bend and repair too!  The fools who left their brains at home were 50 Ross Mason, 68 Jade Mason, 71 Dylan Ellis, 77 Josh Mackey, 125 Nathan Webb, and 165 Richie "Dickie Boy" Jarrard.

There may have been a smaller number of cars on the track, but the action was just as exciting!  There was plenty of crashing, and just as much damage, as they attempted to get their 1/10th beasts around the track!  In round one, Dylan was the first across the line, a lap ahead of Dickie Boy in 2nd place.  Josh came home in 3rd place, 2 laps later, with Nathan following him across the line a lap down.  Ross completed 16 laps and Jade managed 14.

The result for round two was practically identical as round one, with Dylan raising the flag and dickie taking 2nd place.  Josh again finished 3rd, with Nathan coming home in 4th.  Ross again completed 16 laps, and Jade finished with 13 laps.

All change in round three, with Nathan picking his way through to cross the finish line in first place, with Ross coming home in 2nd, a lap behind.  Josh took 3rd place fromDickie Boy on splits, with Dylan coming home in 5th place, and Jade finishing 6th.

An exciting finish for round four, with Nathan claiming the win on splits from Dickie Boy.  Josh again finished in 3rd place, just a lap behind the winners, with Ross coming home in 4th place.  Dylan completed 17 laps to finish in 5th place, and Jade managed 14 laps to take 6th place.

For the 50 lap final, the racing settled down more as they all chased for the double points.  Jade completed 26 laps to finish in 6th place, with Nathan coming home in 5th with 33 laps.  Josh took 4th place on splits from Nathan, and Dickie Boy completed 40 laps to finish in 3rd place.  Ross came home in 2nd place with 49 laps, but crossing the line to take the chequered flag was Dylan.  Well done Dylan, a great race finish!

Last but not least, I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing Ian Booker the very best of luck in the London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April.  Continuing on from our fundraising last night, we held another sweepstake and collection today, and all together over this weekend, we have raised a few pennies over £210!  Thank you so much to everyone who dug deep in their pockets to help support Ian and The British Heart Foundation, a very worthy cause, we really are very grateful to you all.

Best of luck Ian, you can do this!  And remember, we are all backing you 100%, good luck fella, and enjoy your run!
