UNDERS & OVERS PRE '70 BANGERS, F2 STOCKS, & 2L SALOON STOCKS

We had three formulas running tonight at Brentwood, well, four really, if you count the Under 2L Bangers and Over 2L Bangers as two separate!  This gave the drivers the opportunity to race two bangers in one evening, choosing which they would like to take the points from.  Five drivers took up the challenge to race both, 183 Shaye Hunter, 371 Sean Foley, 383 Darren "Divvy" Goldberg, 401 Craig Watson, and 570 Rob Gymer; with Shaye, Divvy and Rob all opting to run F2's and 2L's too!  They certainly had their work cut out tonight!  Adding to that, Divvy was also running the computer for most of the evening too!  His head must have been spinning!  Thankfully, he had plenty of help with his cars, and Simon helped out on the computer as much as he could.

UNDER 2L BANGERS (35 laps)

27 Damian Murray, 183 Shaye Hunter, 251 Connor Shields, 258 Dave Lungley, 371 Sean Foley, 383 Darren "Divvy" Goldberg, 401 Craig Watson, 570 Rob Gymer, 662 Simon "Midge" Alexander and 676 Bob Beswick.

A good mixture of wreckers and racers in this group made for some entertaining heats!  In heat one the win went to Rob, who'd managed to avoid the chaos and sneak through to take the chequered flag.  Ten laps behind him, 2nd place went to Shaye, and Craig came home in 3rd on splits with Shaye.  Not so lucky in heat two for Rob, completing just 2 laps!  Crossing the finish line in first place was Shaye, with Bob finishing in 2nd place, two laps behind.  Coming home in 3rd place was Connor with 29 laps.  For heat three, Rob regained him composure and took the chequered flag once more.  Shaye again finished in 2nd place, 3 laps behind him, with Connor completing 25 laps to finish in 3rd.

The 40 lap Final was a close run affair, but still riddled with plenty of wrecking!  Bob had to leave early, so he'd dropped out, and Dave Lungley had sustained too much damage to participate!  The Krankies performed as usual, with Sean completing just 1 lap, and Midge completing 2!  Craig got caught up in the bedlam and completed just 4 laps to finish in 6th place.  Connor came home in 5th place with 15 laps, and one lap ahead was Divvy, taking 4th place.  Damian finished in 3rd place with 20 laps, whilst Rob and Shaye battled it out for the win.  The lead swapped back and forth between these two before they crossed the line for a photo finish on splits; Rob having to settle for 2nd place, and 10 year old Shaye taking the win!  Well done Shaye, a great race.

OVER 2L BANGERS (35 laps)

46 Geoff Hughes, 46 Charlie Aylward, 50 Ross Mason, 55 Barry Mason, 63 Jean Mason, 68 Jade Mason, 71 Dylan Ellis, 81 Craig "Hooligan" Cheverall, 166 Dougie "Doogie" Donovan, 203 Jack Booker, 116 Wayne Holtom, 129 Simon Warner, 146 Jack Aylward, 177 Scott "Brick" Chopping, 183 Shaye Hunter, 228 Karl Dilworth, 233 Dave "Big Dave" Nash, 371 Sean Foley, 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, 383 Darren "Divvy" Goldberg, 401 Craig Watson, 406 Brad Dilworth, 416 Alfie Baker, 461 Paul Aylward, 546 Kerry Goldstone, 551 Michael Collins, 570 Rob Gymer, 676 Bob Beswick, and 711 Danny "Wobbly" Ellis.

A larger field for this class, with 29 bangers taking part.  Again, a good mix of racers and wreckers, again making for entertaining viewing.  Splits separated the top two for heat one, with Karl snatching the win from Michael by 0.38!  Craig came home in 3rd place, just one lap behind them, with Brad and Rob finishing on splits for 4th place, Brad taking 4th and Rob 5th.  Karl repeated his success in round two, winning one lap ahead of Shaye, with Jack B taking 3rd place from Rob on splits.  Michael took 5th place on splits from Craig W with 32 laps.  Though he tried hard, Karl just lost out on his hat-trick in round three, with Michael claiming the win a lap ahead.  Craig W came home in 3rd place with 32 laps, on splits from Rob, and Jack B finished in 5th with 31 laps.

For the 40 lap Final, twenty-six cars made it to the track.  Geoff completed just one lap, whilst Craig C and Sean managed four each.  Barry finished with 4 laps, and Wobbly managed 5 (is that a record for him? lol).  Simon and Jean both finished with 10 laps, and Big Dave finished with 13 laps.  Alfie completed 16 laps, and Doogie took 16th place from Taylor-Jay on splits with 17 laps.  Divvy finished 13th, Wayne 14th and Charlie 15th, all with 18 laps.  Father and Son, Paul and Jack Aylward finished on splits with 22 laps, with Jack snatching 11th place from his Dad!  Kerry came home in 10th place with 23 laps, whilst Jade completed 25 laps to finish in 9th place.  Dylan finished with 29 laps in 8th place, Shaye completed 30 laps and finished in 7th place, with Jack B finishing in 6th with 33 laps.  One lap ahead was Rob in 5th place, and Brad finished 4th with 35 laps.  3rd place went to Michael with 36 laps, whilst 37 laps placed Craig W in 2nd place.  Taking the chequered flag for the third time this evening was Karl, much to his delight and his brother Brad's annoyance!  Well done Karl!

JUNIOR BANGERS (25 laps)

We had a good turn-out tonight for the Junior class, eleven youngsters, all out to mimic their track heros!  Taking part tonight were 8 Lucie Donovan, 81 Chloe, 115 Sonny holtom, 202 Elliot Savva, 212 George O'Sullivan, 281 Teddy Warner, 331 Andrew "Dinky" Donovan, 428 Oliver Murray, 676 Joey Nash, 804 Jay Hennessey, and 888 Robert Pinnell.

Six year old Dinky was making his debut tonight, taking the infamous number of 331, complete with his car painted in Boxer Jack's livery!  And judging by the smile on his face, he enjoyed his racing!  Also racing for the very first time was Big Dave's grandson Joey, courtesy of Bob Beswick, who gave up his chance to race in Under and Overs to let Joey use one of his cars!  (See, he's not a bad chap, is he?).

The first win of the evening, round one, went to George, with Sonny taking 2nd place on splits from Oliver.  Chloe finished in 4th place, with Elliot coming home in 5th.  George repeated his success with another win in round two, while Elliot improved to finish in 2nd place and Jay came home in 3rd, taking the place on splits from Sonny, whilst Oliver finished in 5th place.  Completing a hat-trick of wins, George took the chequered flag once again in round three, with Jay just losing out on the win on splits!  Oliver took 3rd place on splits from Robert, while Elliot came home in 5th place.

For the 40 laps Final, Chloe chose not to race, and 6 year old Joey had been collected by his Mum, and so missed the chance to race again tonight.  Dinky completed 9 laps and finished in 9th place, with Sonny coming home in 8th place with 15 laps. Sixteen laps gave Lucie 7th place, Robert completed 23 laps to finish 6th, and 5th place went to Elliot with 24 laps. Teddy came home in 4th place with 27 laps, Oliver took 3rd place with 30 laps, and completing 34 laps gave Jay 2nd place.  But completing the full 40 laps and raising the chequered flag once again was George, his 3rd win of the evening!  Well-done George, great racing from you!

The DD was an all-in crashmania, with carnage at every corner of the track!  Last Junior running was Elliot Savva, while for the Adults, the win was taken by Barry Mason.  Well done everyone, a great finish!

F2 STOCK CARS (35 laps)

Another great turnout for the F2's tonight, with 15 drivers, split into two heats.

HEAT ONE - 46 Geoff Hughes, 183 Shaye Hunter, 383 Darren "Divvy" Goldberg, 501 Pinky Cooper, 551 Michael Collins, 570 Rob Gymer, and 662 Simon "Midge" Alexander.

A good start for young Shaye in round one, taking the first win of the evening, 2 laps ahead of Pinky, who took 2nd place from Divvy on splits.  Rob finished in 4th, taking the place on splits from Geoff, with Midge coming home in 6th place, making his debut in this formula.  Michael  had problems with his F2 and failed to make the race.  In round two, Shaye took the chequered flag once again, but had to fight with Divvy and Midge (AKA Bob Beswick!) for the place, with all three finishing on splits!  Rob came home in 4th place, just one lap behind them, and Geoff finished in 5th, taking the place on splits from Pinky.  Michael managed 10 laps, but retired from the race early.  Divvy was the victor in round three, crossing the line a clear lap ahead of Pinky, with Rob finishing a lap behind him.  Shaye came home in 4th place this time, with Midge finishing in 5th place (back on the controls himself).  Geoff retired from the race after just 7 laps, and again, Michael failed to race.

HEAT TWO - 50 Ross Mason, 68 Jade Mason, 71 Dylan Ellis, 81 Craig Cheverall, 114 Ian Ardley, 258 Dave Lungley, 321 Richard Whitting, and 375 Taylor-Jay Liles.

Craig has been concentrating on his stocks cars, rather than bangers, of late, and the concentration paid off tonight as he crossed the finish line in 1st place in round one, two laps ahead of the field.  Taylor-Jay came home in 2nd, taking the place from Dylan on splits, with Ian finishing in 4th place.  Ross claimed 5th place on splits from his sister Jade, with Richard finishing in 7th place and Dave in 8th.  Dylan ran a blinding race in round two and finished two laps ahead of the field to claim the win.  Craig finished in 2nd place on splits from Taylor-Jay and Ian, while Jade managed an extra lap to her brother this time, claiming 5th place and leaving Ross to finish 6th.  Richard again finished in 7th place, with Dave failing to make it to the track.  Dylan again claimed the win in round three, this time on splits from Craig.  Ross came home in 3rd place, with Taylor-Jay finishing in 4th on splits from Richard.  Jade took 6th place from Ian on splits, with Dave finishing in 8th place.

B FINAL (35 laps) - 46 Geoff Hughes, 50 Ross Mason, 68 Jade Mason, 114 Ian Ardley, 258 Dave Lungley, 321 Richard Whitting, 551 Michael Collins.

Unfortunately Michael was still having problems and again failed to make it to the track.  Ross completed 16 laps to finish in 6th place, with Dave coming home in 5th place with 20 laps.  Jade, Ian and Richard all completed 34 laps, with Jade taking 4th place, Ian 3rd place and Richard claiming 2nd.  Completing the full 35 laps, and crossing the line 1st to take the chequered flag was Geoff.  Well done Geoff, a great race!

A FINAL (40 laps) - 71 Dylan Ellis, 81 Craig Cheverall, 183 Shaye Hunter, 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, 383 Divvy, 501 Pinky Cooper, 570 Rob Gymer and 662 Midge.

Rob finished in 8th place with 32 laps, whilst Midge came home in 7th with 34 laps.  Pinky completed 37 laps to take 6th place, with Taylor-Jay coming home in 5th place with 38 laps.  Finishing with 39 laps gave Craig 4th place, with the top three all completing the full 40 laps and all coming home on splits!  This exciting finish placed Divvy in 3rd, with Dylan finishing 2nd. But with just a one second difference, Shaye managed to cross the line first, claiming the win and raising the chequered flag for the third time this evening!  A great finish, well-done Shaye, you did great!

2L SALOON STOCKS

The final formula running tonight was the 2L Saloons, with fifteen drivers, split into two heats.

HEAT ONE (45 laps) - 177 Scott "Brick" Chopping, 183 Shaye Hunter, 203 Jack Booker, 213 Tracy Cooper, 383 Darren "Divvy" goldberg, 501 Pinky Cooper, 551 Michael Collins, and 570 Rob Gymer.

Round one gave us a great start to the 2L Saloons!  Tracy, Divvy and Jack all finished with 36 laps on splits, Shaye and Pinky battled for 3rd place, both finishing with 40 laps, with Shaye just a hint in front, and the to two also finished on splits, with Michael taking the win and Brick settling for 2nd.  In round two, Brick gained the edge on Michael and finished 1st, 2 laps in front.  Tracy snatched 3rd from Divvy on splits, with her hubby Pinky finishing 5th.  Rob finished 6th, with Shaye coming home in 7th and Jack finishing 8th.  Round three, and again Brick was first across the finish line, a lap ahead of Michael who took 2nd place.  Shaye came home in 3rd place with Jack following him across the line in 4th.  Rob finished in 5th place, Tracy came home 6th place, Pinky finished 7th and Divvy came home in 8th.

A great finish in round one saw Ross snatch the win from James on splits.  Ian came home in 3rd place with big Dave just one lap behind him.  Paul finished in 5th place with Chid coming home in 6th place.  Jade had problems with her Saloon and retired early, after completing just 9 laps.  Round two saw an amazing run from Paul, taking the chequered flag with 7 laps to spare!  Ross finished in 2nd place, with Ian again taking 3rd place.  James finished in 4th place, whilst Jade managed to finish in 5th place.  Chid came home in 6th place, and Big Dave failed to make it to the start.  More close racing in round three saw Ian take the win from Paul on splits.  James pinched 3rd place from Big Dave on splits, with Ross finishing 5th a lap behind them.  Jade came home in 6th place, and Chid finished 7th.

THE BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION - IAN BOOKER

As well as the usual fun and banter, we had a more serious note tonight too.  On Sunday 23rd April, Ian Booker, father of 203 Jack Booker, is running in the London Marathon to raise money for The British Heart Foundation.  To help him with his fundraising we help a sweepstake.  60 London Landmarks were sold for £2 each, collecting £120.  Later in the evening we held the draw, with the first name out winning £30 and second name drawn winning £20.  This raised £70 for the charity, so I want to say a very big thank you to everyone who dug deep and bought a London landmark.  Your support for the charity and for Ian is very much appreciated, thank you.
