“DICKIE BOY” ALLY SERIES, RND 4
Sunday 13th November 2016
What started off as a bright sunny day very soon clouded over and became quite dismal looking. Thankfully though, that was just the weather! As far as racing went, it got sunnier and sunnier! The banter was bright and cheerful, as usual, the field of vehicles was exceptional, and the racing was crashtastic!
Today was the fourth round of the highly successful “Dickie Boy” Ally series, and the theme for this meeting was “Big Vans” and there were some fantastic builds. Richie Jarrard’s ice cream van, which really made the drivers want to “stop him and buy one”, well, stop him at least! Divvy sported a monster coach, and young Bradley Jarrard had a single decker bus. Kerry Goldstone went back in time to his childhood and raced the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine, complete with Scooby, Scrappy and the guys looking through the windows; whilst Jack Booker reminded us all of days spent in front of the TV watching the A Team; (“Who you messing with, you crazy fool?”). There were a couple of Transit Connects from Josh Mackey and Mickey Galloway, and an Mk 1 Transit from Adrian Porter. Michael Collins and Harry Harding both had Mk 4 Escorts, and Craig Cheverall and Dan Barrell sported matching Iveco Daily Vans. Peter Bowley had a Sprinter Van and Alfie Lee had an LDV, both drivers making their debut in this ally series. Ross and Jade Mason both went to town as usual, with Jade “blinging up” her Essex Girl Cancer Research Special, and Ross created a Remembrance Day special, complete with poppies. Jay Ravell turned a few heads with a 1960 International Horse Box, and Aaron Lydon taught us all a lesson with an American School Bus. Nathan Webb had a great looking high sided van, and Geoff Hughes completed the field with his shoe box! Yes, that’s right, a shoe box, complete with the Nike emblem too! Great work guys, some great imagination put to work, and some exceptional looking motors. Awesome! Picking up the points for the Smartest Cats were Jack Booker, Josh Mackey and Mickey Galloway. Rare Tin points were awarded to Ray Ravell, Richie Jarrard, Kerry Goldstone and Aaron Lydon.
HEAT ONE –33 Jay Ravell, 46 Geoff Hughes, 50 Ross Mason, 65 Bradley Jarrard, 125 Nathan Webb, 165 Richie Jarrard, 502 Aaron Lydon, 546 Kerry Goldstone, 577 Alfie Lee, and 778 Adrian Porter.
ROUND ONE. A great first race, with young Bradley’s bus being the obvious target! I have to give Bradley his due, he took the hits really well and kept the bus going as much as possible throughout the race. Poor Aaron managed just one lap before breaking down, and Alfie went on a wrecking spree, hitting as many vehicles as possible! Jay made it across the finish line in first place, with Adrian 2 laps behind him. Richie struggled through the carnage to take 3rd place, and the shoe box special bought Geoff home in 4th. Ross lost a few poppies on the way, but completed 19 laps to take 5th place, with Bradley’s bus arriving on time in 6th. Scooby, sorry Kerry, put in some awesome hits along the way, but still managed to complete 13 laps and took 7th place. Nathan finished in 8th place, Alfie took 9th, and Aaron was awarded 10th.
ROUND TWO. Unfortunately Aaron was unable to make it to the track for this race, still trying to sort out his mechanical problems. Richie took the chequered flag this time, with Jay just one lap behind to take 2nd. Adrian came home in 3rd place with 4th place going to Kerry, and 5th place going to Nathan. Bradley parked the bus, having taken 5th place, and coming home in 6th place was Alfie. Ross took 8th place and Geoff took 9th place.
ROUND THREE. An exciting finish to this race, with Ross and Kerry battling for the lead! Eventually, they crossed the line almost together, with Ross just having the edge on Kerry to take his first career win! Adrian finished 3rd on splits with Richie, and Jay came home in 5th place. Bradley completed 24 laps to finish in 6th place, with Nathan finishing 7th on 14 laps. Alfie continued with his wrecking spree and finished 8th. Aaron was still having problems and did not make it to the track, neither did Geoff.
HEAT TWO – 51 Dan Barrell, 68 Jade Mason, 77 Josh Mackey, 81 Craig Cheverall, 195 Peter Bowley, 203 Jack Booker, 383 Divvy, 503 Harry Harding, 551 Michael Collins, and 590 Mickey Galloway.
ROUND ONE. Harry chose to run without a transponder this afternoon, so therefore, clocked no laps, but that didn’t keep him from smiling and having some fun out on the track! The first win for this group went to the very vocal Michael! You always know when Michael’s racing, everyone can hear him! And you accuse me of being loud! Lol. Our two juniors fought it out for 2nd place, finishing on splits, with Josh just beating Jack to the finish line. The Essex girl bling machine clinched 4th place for Jade, and Mickey followed her across the line to take 5th place. Divvy took a good bashing, with all trying to park their vans within the monster coach, but still managed 23 laps and collected 6th place. Craig finished in 7th place, and 8th place went to Dan, with Peter following in Alfie’s tyre tracks and completed just 4th laps, mostly in the wrong direction, to take 9th place.
ROUND TWO. An absolute flying race for Jack gave him victory, with Josh finishing in 2nd place, 3 laps behind. Mickey came home in 3rd place, and 4th place went to the ever resourceful Divvy. Jade came home in 5th place, with Craig finishing 6th and Pete finishing 7th. Michael, a victim of the wrecking, completed just 5 laps to claim 8th place. Dan finished in 9th place and Harry again took 10th.
ROUND THREE. Michael returned to form for this race and crossed the finish line to take his 2nd win of the day. Again Josh and Jack battled for 2nd place, with Josh just clinching it on splits. Peter went racing for a change, although he still managed quite a few hits along the way, and finished in 4th place. Craig came home in 5th place, with Mickey claiming 6th. Dan finished in 7th place, and Divvy came home in 8th. Jade completed just 4 laps to come home in 9th place, and yet again, Harry was awarded 10th place.
ALL-IN FINAL. A crash fest ensued from the off, and there were many hard hits taking place all around the track. Divvy went to town with the coach, repaying as many hits as was possible. Dan and Aaron failed to make it to the track, leaving Harry to claim 18th place, having no transponder. Pete was again wrecking throughout and completed just one lap to take 17th place. In 16th place was Divvy with 1 lap, and in 15th place was Mickey with 3 laps. Completing 11 laps, his most of the day, Alfie came home in 14th place, and Geoff made it all 13’s, 13 laps and 13th place. In 12th place, with 14 laps was Craig, whilst Adrian completed 15 laps to make it to 11th place. 10th place was taken by Jade with 20 laps, and her brother Ross finished in 9th place with 22 laps. Bradley took 7th place, pushing Jay into 8th on splits with 31 laps. The A team van bought Jack home in 6th place with 34 laps, and Richie took 5th place with 36 laps, beaten on splits by the 4th place Mystery Machine of Kerry. Nathan came home in 3rd place, with 39 laps, beaten on splits by Michael in 2nd, and the winner of the final was Josh, flying past them all to take the chequered flag. Phew! A fast, furious and action packed race! Well done guys, great to watch!
DD. A tremendous sound of metal on metal ensued for the DD, the wrecking was so intense! One by one, they dropped like flies, leaving Divvy and Nathan to fight it out for the win. Eventually Divvy got the upper hand, disabling Nathan and collecting the 20 points. Nathan collected 10 points, and Bradley collected 20 points as the last junior running. Best wrecked points went to Alfie Lee, and best wrecker points went to Peter Bowley and Nathan Webb.
BANGERS.

Another great banger meeting guys, well done.
DD. Another great DD for the Volvos, with some epic wrecking. Taylor-Jay managed to keep running long enough to take the win.

51 Dan Barrell, 58 Ginge, 77 Josh Mackey, 90 Charlie Camp, 366 Simba, 383 Divvy, and 639 Simon Camp.
ROUND ONE. This was such a close race, with the top two on splits, and the next 3 on splits! Simba failed to make it to the track, so we had 7 racing in this first race. First across the line was Josh, just pinching the 1st place from Simon. Craig finished in 3rd, with Dan in 4th and Ginge in 5th, all on 38 laps. Charlie finished in 6th place, with Divvy finishing in 7th.

ALL-IN FINAL. As Divvy was too busy repairing his Ally Coach, he chose to sit this one out. Charlie managed 32 laps to take 8th place, and Craig finished in 7th place with 41 laps. Ginge had to settle for 6th place, with 44 laps, and Simon also finished on 44 laps to take 5th place. Simba came home in 4th place with 45 laps, and Dan finished with 47 laps in 3rd place.
