So tonight was the 2nd round of the team bangers, and with TEAM BLACK and REAM CHELMSFORD jointly leading the points, with #TGU just 6 points behind them, it was promising to be a evening of exciting racing and crashing!  Two new teams joined us, TEAM BALLS DEEP and WOBBLY MAFIA; could they make a difference to the points, or were they here just for the crash?  Only time would tell!

With TEAM BLACK and TEAM CHELMSFORD level pegging at the top of the chart, they needed to work hard to keep their positions, and with #TGU not attending tonight, the ANT HILL MOB had a great chance to move up the overall points.  But don't write off the other teams, the SUICIDE SQUAD were lingering just behind, and just 2 points behind them, the MELBOURNE FLAPS were still in the running!

ROUND ONE

HEAT ONE - And it was soon obvious the guys were here for the points!  A great win for Bob Beswick (TEAM CHELMSFORD), with Dylan Ellis (ANT HILL MOB) finishing in 2nd place, 4 laps behind.  Sleepy (SUICIDE SQUAD) came home in 3rd and Mickey Galloway (TEAM BLACK) finished in 4th place.  5th place went to Taylor-Jay Liles (ANT HILL MOB) with Ian Ardley (THE MELTS) taking 6th place on splits from Tom O'Sullivan (MELBOURNE FLAPS) and Darren Howard (KRANKIES).  Jay Barnes (SUICIDE SQUAD) came home in 9th place and the 10th finisher was Dave Nash (KRANKIES).

HEAT TWO - Michael Collins (ANT HILL MOB) and Josh Mackey (TEAM BLACK) were off to a flying start, pulling ahead of the rest of the field.  Almost side-by-side for the entire race, they finished on splits, with Josh just a whisker ahead of Michael.  Jack Booker (TEAM BLACK) came home in 3rd place with Alan Trickett (SUICIDE SQUAD) just a lap behind to take 4th.  Chris Conn (TEAM CHELMSFORD) crossed the line in 5th place, with Brad Barnes (SUICIDE SQUAD) finishing in 6th place.  Nathan (ANT HILL MOB) came home in 7th place and James Donovan (THE MELTS) finished in 8th.  9th place went to Dean Conyard (TEAM BOB THE BUILDER) on splits from Alec Quarman (TEAM CHELMSFORD).

A great start for the ANT HILL MOB, with TEAM BLACK and SUICIDE SQUAD just a few points behind!  Still anybody's meeting!

ROUND TWO

HEAT ONE - Another resounding win for Bob Beswick (TEAM CHELMSFORD), with Sleepy (SUICIDE SQUAD) taking 2nd place from Dylan Ellis (ANT HILL MOB) on splits.  Shaye Hunter (TEAM CHELMSFORD) came through to finish in 4th place and 5th went to Darren Howard (THE KRANKIES).  Kerry Goldstone (TEAM BLACK) took 6th place on splits from Taylor-Jay Liles (ANT HILL MOB), and Ian Ardley (THE MELTS) finished a lap behind them.  Mickey Galloway (TEAM BLACK) came through to take 9th place from Tom O'Sullivan (MELBOURNE FLAPS) on splits.

HEAT TWO - Michael Collins (ANT HILL MOB) and Josh Mackey (TEAM BLACK) were both quick off the blocks, as expected, but rapidly making his way through the field was Chris Conn (TEAM CHELMSFORD), who overtook them all and took the chequered flag from Michael Collins on splits!  Josh Mackey came home in 3rd with team mate Jack Booker (TEAM BLACK) coming home in 4th on splits with Brad Barnes (SUICIDE SQUAD) who had to settle for 5th.  Alan Trickett (SUICIDE SQUAD) finished just a lap behind Brad, and Divvy (THE KRANKIES) made it home to take 7th place. 8th went to Nathan Webb (ANT HILL MOB), with Richard Smee (WOBBLY MAFIA) and Jamie Townsend (THE MELTS) finishing on splits to take 9th and 10th places.

So the ANT HILL MOB were working well and looking strong, but it was still anyone's for the taking!

ROUND THREE

HEAT ONE - His 3rd win of the night saw Bob Beswick (TEAM CHELMSFORD) raise the flag once again, with Dylan Ellis (ANT HILL MOB) coming home a lap behind him.  Shaye Hunter (TEAM CHELMSFORD) came through to finish in 3rd place, with Tom O'Sullivan (MELBOURNE FLAPS) coming home in 4th place.  5th place went to Mickey Galloway (TEAM BLACK), with Taylor-Jay Liles (ANT HILL MOB) taking 6th place on splits from Ian Ardley (THE MELTS).  Crossing the line in 8th place was Jak Conyard (TEAM BOB THE BUILDER), and Sleepy (SUICIDE SQUAD) took 9th place on splits from Kerry Goldstone (TEAM BLACK) in 10th.

HEAT TWO - A brilliant finish to this race with the top three all crossing the line together!  Chris Conn (TEAM CHELMSFORD) took the win, from Josh Mackey (TEAM BLACK) in 2nd place and Michael Collins (ANT HILL MOB) in 3rd. Alan Trickett (SUICIDE SQUAD) came home in 4th place, with Brad Barnes (SUICIDE SQUAD) crossing the line to take 5th.  Jack Booker (TEAM BLACK) came home in 6th place, with Jade Mason (ELM PARK WRECKERS) making it through the chaos to finish in 7th.  Alec Quarman (TEAM CHELMSFORD) crossed the line in 8th place, and Nathan Webb (ANT HILL MOB) came home in 9th, just a lap before 10th place man Tony Hall (TEAM BOB THE BUILDER).

So the ANT HILL MOB were looking strong, with TEAM BLACK AND TEAM CHELMSFORD snapping at their heels!

ROUND FOUR

HEAT ONE - Bob Beswick (TEAM CHELMSFORD) made it four out of four, by taking the chequered flag yet again! Shaye Hunter (TEAM CHELMSFORD) finished in 2nd place, just a lap behind his teammate.  Dylan Ellis (ANT HILL MOB) finished in 3rd with his teammate, Taylor-Jay liles (ANT HILL MOB) coming home in 4th place.  Sleepy (SUICIDE SQUAD) slipped through the traffic to finish in 5th, with Mickey Galloway (TEAM BLACK) coming home to cross the line in 6th.  Tom O'Sullivan (MELBOURNE FLAPS) crept through to finish in 7th place, with Gary Honey (TEAM BOB THE BUILDER) coming home 8th.  Jay Barnes (SUICIDE SQUAD) was next across the line, in 9th place, and Barry Mason (ELM PARK WRECKERS) took 10th place on splits from Ian Ardley (THE MELTS).

HEAT TWO - A great finish to the racing for TEAM BLACK, with Josh Mackey taking the win and Jack Booker finishing in 2nd place.  Alan Trickett (SUICIDE SQUAD was the 3rd placed man, with Alec Quarman (TEAM CHELMSFORD) crossing the line to take 4th place.  Brad Barnes (TEAM CHELMSFORD) finished in 5th and Michael Collins (ANT HILL MOB) came home in 6th place.  7th place went to Tony Hall (TEAM BOB THE BUILDER), with Jade Mason (ELM PARK WRECKERS) finishing in 8th place.  Chris Conn (TEAM CHELMSFORD) crossed the line to take 9th place, and the 10th finisher was Jay Hennessey (MELBOURNE FLAPS).

How close it that?  Congratulations to ANT HILL MOB and TEAM CHELMSFORD on their joint win, and TEAM BLACK just one point behind!  Just 18 points behind were the SUICIDE SQUAD to finish in 4th place.  A great night's racing guys, be proud of yourselves!

Wow!  Never seen a team competition so close!  Just one point separating the top two, with the Ant Hill Mob moving up to 3rd place.  Great racing guys and gals, good to see a healthy competition taking place!

​

To finish the night off (no points involved)  we held the usual wreckfest of the DD.  Last Junior running was Shaye Hunter, with Barry Mason taking the Senior win.  congrats boys, seems Barry is making a habit of this!

 

Looking forward to seeing it all done again for round three on 8th July!

HEAT ONE - 19 James Donovan, 27 Jamie Townsend, 46 Geoff Hughes, 50 Ross Mason, 58 Darren Howard, 177 Scott Chopping, 551 Michael Collins, 570 Rob Gymer, 676 Bob Beswick.

ROUND ONE - and a great start for Scott, crossing the line 2 laps ahead of the field to take the first win of the evening.  Darren came home in 2nd place, with James finishing a lap behind in 3rd.  Bob crossed the line in 4th place, Rob came home in 5th and Jamie finished 6th.  Ross crossed the line to take 7th place, and Geoff snatched 8th from Michael on splits.

ROUND TWO - saw another win for Scott, with Michael finishing 2nd, 4 laps down.  Rob crossed the line to take 3rd place, with James snatching 4th place from Bob on splits.  Geoff finished in 6th place, and Darren came home in 7th place.  Ross finished in 8th place, and 9th went to Jamie.

ROUND THREE - and a hat-trick of heat wins for Scott, but only just, he took the win on splits from Bob, who had to settle for 2nd.  3rd place went to James, enjoying his debut in this class, with Michael finishing in 4th.  Rob crossed the line to take 5th place and Darren finished in 6th.  Geoff was 7th across the line, and Jamie came home in 8th, with Ross finishing 9th.

​

HEAT TWO - 77 Josh Mackey, 183 Shaye Hunter, 233 Dave "Big Dave" Nash, 258 Dave Lungley, 366 Karl "Simba" McDowell, 371 Sean Foley, 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, 662 Simon "Midge" Alexander, and 804 Jay Hennessey.

ROUND ONE - saw a flying start for Josh, taking the lead early on and holding the place to the finish line.  Shaye finished 2 laps behind, taking the place from Simba on splits.  Taylor finished in 4th place, with Big Dave coming home in 5th place.  Jay came home in 6th place, Midge finished 7th, Sean took 8th place, and Dave failed to run.

ROUND TWO - A great battle in this race, with the top three finishes battling together for almost the entire race.  The lead swapped back and forth several times, before Shaye finally took the win, 2 laps ahead of Josh.  Simba finished in 3rd, with Taylor coming home in 4th place on splits from Big Dave.  Midge took 6th place from Sean on splits, and Jay finished 2 laps behind them, with Dave still unable to make it to the track.

ROUND THREE - A great win for Simba with Josh taking 2nd place on splits from Shaye.  Big Dave came home in 4th place, with Sean finishing in 5th.  Midge crossed the line to take 6th place, Jay came home in 7th, and Taylor finished 8th.  Again, Dave failed to run.

HEAT THREE - 25 Sam Townsend, 68 Jade Mason, 81 Craig Cheverall, 114 Ian Ardley, 184 Tom O'Sullivan, 194 Gary Honey, 383 Darren "Divvy" Goldberg, 401 Craig Watson, and 778 Adrian Porter. 

ROUND ONE - Having waited 9 months for the arrival of a signwritten body shell, once recieved, Craig Watson was so pleased with the result, he didn't want to scratch it, so promptly had Bob Beswick cut him out another one and he raced with that instead!  With the Beswick touch, Craig them went out and won the first race, with a 2 lap lead!  Gary came home in 2nd place, and Adrian took 3rd place from Ian on splits.  Tom finished in 5th place, and Divvy crossed the line to take 6th.  Jade finished in 7th place, with Craig Cheverall finishing 8th and Sam coming home in 9th.

ROUND TWO - A cracking race this one, with the top 3 finishing on splits.  Ian inch forward to take the win, with Craig Watson finishing in 2nd place and Gary finishing 3rd.  Divvy finished in 4th place, with Adrian coming home to collect 5th place on splits from Jade.  Tom crossed the line in 7th place, with Craig Cheverall finishing 8th and Sam taking 9th place.

ROUND THREE - And yet another brilliant run, with Ian claiming the chequered flag on splits from Gary.  Craig Cheverall finished 3rd, with Craig Watson coming home in 4th.  Tom crossed the line to take 5th place, with Divvy coming home 6th place and Jade finishing 7th.  Adrian crossed the line in 8th place and Sam finished in 9th.

​

C FINAL - 25 Sam Townsend, 27 Jamie Townsend, 46 Geoff Hughes, 50 Ross Mason, 68 Jade Mason, 258 Dave Lungley, and 804 Jay Hennessey.

Sadly, Sam and Dave failed to make it to the track.  Jamie completed 39 laps to come home in 5th place.  Sibling rivalry dominated, with Ross losing out to Jade for 3rd place on splits, both finishing with 40 laps.  Jay crossed the line in 2nd place with 44 laps, and Geoff crossed the line to raise the chequered flag with 45 laps.

​

B FINAL - 58 Darren Howard, 81 Craig Cheverall, 186 Tom O'Sullivan, 233 Dave "Big Dave" Nash, 371 Sean Foley, 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, 383 Darren "Divvy" Goldberg, 551 Michael Collins, and 778 Adrian Porter.

Sean completed 33 laps to finish in 9th place, with Big Dave finishing in 8th place with 35 laps.  Tom crossed the line in 7th place with 38 laps, and Divvy finished in 6th place with 40 laps, just losing out on 5th place to Darren on splits.    Craig came across the line in 4th place with 41 laps, and 3rd place went to Adrian with 42 laps.  Coming home in 2nd place with 43 laps was Taylor, but taking the win, two laps ahead was Michael.

​

A FINAL - 19 James Donovan, 77 Josh Mackey, 114 Ian Ardley, 177 Scott Chopping, 1836 Shaye Hunter, 194 Gary Honey, 366 Karl "Simba" McDowell, 401 Craig Watson, 570 Rob Gymer, and 676 Bob Beswick.

Rob completed just 9 laps before retiring from the race, placing him in 10th place.  Craig finished in 9th place with 22 laps, and Shaye completed 36 laps to finish in 8th place.  James came home with 37 laps and finished in 7th place, whilst 39 laps gave Simba 6th place.  Gary finished in 5th place, and Bob took 4th, both with 40 laps, and 22 laps gave Ian 3rd place.  Josh pushed hard and finished in 2nd place on splits with the race winner, but getting pass Scott Chopping is nigh on impossible and so Scott raised the chequered flag once again to complete his full house of race wins this evening!  Congratulations Scott, well raced.
