MK 1/2/3 GRANADA BANGERS,

2L SALOON STOCKS & F2 STOCK CARS

Back to our favourite track once again, this time to go Granny Bashing!  All Mk 1, 2, 3 Granada Bangers, often a favourite amongst drivers!  In addition we also had the 2L Saloon Stocks and the F2 Stock Cars, so we were in for some great racing!  The weather was atrocious, the rain never stopped all night, but that didn't stop 68 drivers and their followers from heading to Brentwood for an evening of fun and banter!

It was great to see some new faces at the track tonight; in the Juniors we had 512 Oliver Goode, who'd seen at racing at Fords, Dagenham and was hooked, 52 Callum Scott from KCO, and competing in her very first meeting was 454 Rosie Day.  In the Seniors we had 77 Dylan Whiddington who'd first raced with us at Wings & Wheels back in June, 747 Danny Filmer and 25 Darren Scott from KCO, and first time driver 564 Alex Smith, brother-in-law of 654 Paul Weedon.

We also had some faces we hadn't seen for quite a while, 901 Reece Worby, Norfolk based 913 Brett Osborne, 27 Jamie Townsend, 298 Ryan Whitehand from Iceni Raceway, and 241 Danny Figg (Figgy), who was returning to RC after a couple of years break!  Welcome to you all, so good to see you, and we hope you all have fun!

JUNIOR GRANADA BANGERS

First on the agenda tonight were our younger drivers, and tonight they were out in force, 18 to be exact!  It's always great to see so many, and to see them smiling and having fun is so good!  Anything that gets these kids away from TV screens and computer games has to be good!

Round One - 734 Jimmy Farquhar was first across the line to take the win, with 52 Callum Scott taking 2nd place on splits from 829 Alfie Parish53 Harry Palmer came home in 4th place and 568 McKenzie Webb finished in 5th.

Round Two - The winner this time was 829 Alfie Parish, taking his first ever win, causing his Mum Vikki to scream with excitement and almost wet herself!  52 Callum Scott took 2nd place once again, with 568 McKenzie improving to take 3rd.  734 Jimmy Farquhar finishing in 4th place and crossing the line to take 5th was 59 Caitlyn Howard.

Round Three - The finish was close in this race, with 829 Alfie Parish just clinching the win on splits from 52 Callum Scott59 Caitlyn Howard finished in 3rd place, with 734 Jimmy Farquhar taking 4th place on splits from 568 McKenzie Webb.  These youngsters certainly know how to get you on the edge of your seats!

FINAL

Sadly, 454 Rosie Day had problems with her receiver and only made it to the track for the first race; however I have been reassured that she still enjoyed herself and is keen to return again soon!  That cheeky little minx known as 19 Sophie Donovan came out for the first two rounds, but was too busy playing to race round three or the Final!  Typical Sophie, bless her.  Enjoying the sweet smell of success, 829 Alfie Parish crossed the line first and raised the chequered flag for the win in the Final.  (Don't panic Vikki, I'll get you some Tena Lady!)  52 Callum Scott again finished in 2nd place, on splits with 53 Harry Palmer in 3rd.  509 Daisy Johnson was our first lady driver home, taking 4th place (GIRL POWER), and 5th place went to 568 McKenzie Webb.  Crossing the line in 6th was 734 Jimmy Farquhar, with 331 Dinky Donovan finishing 7th.  59 Caitlyn Howard (more GIRL POWER!) came home in 8th place, with 66 Harley Donovan taking 9th place on splits from 888 Robert Pinnell.

Great racing from the ankle-biters as usual, well done all!

DESTRUCTION DERBY

The DD tonight was a crash-tastic affair!  As always there was chaos and carnage all around.  Last Junior running was 59 Caitlyn Howard and the winner was 50 Ross Mason, congratulations guys!

Well it was great to see all our "Brentwood Virgins" leaving the track tonight with smiles on their faces!  645 Paul Weedon enjoyed his first time in a 2L Saloon and is now determined to buy one for himself, having borrowed the car tonight from 371 Sean Foley who was working.  661 Martin Ashworth seemed very satisfied with his first go in an F2 Stock Car, and is looking forward to the next F2 meeting on 2nd November at The Birthday Bash.

Many thanks to all who braved the awful weather to be here tonight, especially those who has a long drive to get here, hope your journey home was a good one.

Thank you to all who provided the photos tonight, keep them coming!

Many thanks to Midge and Co for hosting another great meeting and giving us all a great venue to visit on a Saturday night rather than having to sit indoors and watch the X Factor!

Our next meeting is Saturday 19th October when we host the English Championships for Drifts and Reliant Robins supported by the Big Van Bangers.  Have a good week and we'll see you all soon!
