Welcome back to Brentwood RC Raceway, and tonight we're going Dutch!  It's time to pop on those clogs, take your finger out of the dyke, get the windmills spinning and tiptoe through the tulips for our annual Dutch Open!  Obviously we haven't run this Championship for a couple of years, due to you know what, but here we are again, with all Volvo Bangers, running in the opposite direction to usual, Emmen style!  In addition, tonight was also the first points round of the year for the Bangers, Drifts and Reliant Robins, so lots to take care of, so lets get racing!

We start with the JUNIOR BANGERS, so good to see our ankle biters out in their own heat again, though many skills have been learned whilst they been racing with the Seniors!  Their racing tonight proved that!  The heats were dominated by Finnley McNichol who claimed a hat trick of heat wins!

A great start to the Junior Points Championship for Finnley, with his younger brother Jenson, Alfie Parish and Luke Poole all chasing hard to keep up with him!  Finnley then went on to dominate the final, with Jenson pushing so hard to keep up with him.  Running neck and neck, these competitive brothers were vying for the win.  Jenson took the lead and in a last ditch attempt to take the lead back, Finnley mistimed his move and pushed Jenson across the finish line, giving Jenson the double points and he having to settle for 2nd place!  Exciting stuff, great racing!  Some lovely racing from all our youngster tonight, well done all!

Moving on to the SENIOR BANGERS and again there was some exceptional, competitive racing; as well as some brutal wrecking!  These guys were competing on two levels, to collect as many points as possible for the start of the Senior Points Championship, as well as a place in the A Final for the Dutch Open.

Two heat wins each for Shaye Hunter and Billy Saunders, with Dan Morgan and Koonta raising the chequered flag for the other two heats.  35 bangers split into two heats gave as another great evening of banger entertainment.

Some close results there! Well done all, and congratulations heat winners!

The All-In Final saw 30 cars make it to the track, and it was chaos on a huge scale!  Lee Pullen was out to cause as much carnage as possible, and he did just that!  Passing under the loop just 12 times throughout the entire race, he stayed mainly on the back straight, taking as many cars out as possible, no one was safe, and he was taking no prisoners!  Billy Saunders, usually behaving similar to Lee, put his racing helmet on tonight and crossed the line 3 laps ahead of the field to take the win and the title of DUTCH OPEN CHAMPION 2022.  Congratulations Billy, a worthy win.  Jack Booker came home in 2nd place with Dan Morgan finishing in 3rd.  Well done to all, a chaotic 60 laps all round!

Next up were the DRIFTS, also starting their campaign for Club Championship Points.  Seven Drifts here tonight, with the noticeable absence of Dylan Ellis, giving everyone the opportunity to clock up some points before he's back dominating the scene once again!

And the star of the show tonight was young McKenzie Webb; a great little racer, showing constant improvement with every meeting!  With three heat wins, and then taking the win in the Final too, McKenzie proved he's a force to be reckoned with!

So, onto the RELIANT ROBINS, and we had a great field of drivers tonight, with 22 3-pin plugs making it onto the track!  3-pin plug is an apt description for these little cars, their racing tonight was electric!  Shaye Hunter had a win in the first heat, with Julian Poole taking the wins in the other two.  In the second heat, Jack Booker took all three victories, but he has some opposition very close on his rear bumper!

Maintaining the split, we held a B and A Final for the Robins tonight.  Divvy whizzed through to take the win in the B Final, with Jaydan Webb crossing the line to take 2nd place, and Phil Roggerman came home in 3rd.

The A Final was once again dominated by Jack Booker; Shaye Hunter came home in 2nd place, and just snatching 3rd on splits was Julian Poole.  Well done all, entertaining racing, as always.

As usual, we held the DD.  There were some extremely big hits going in, and it was a struggle to keep cars running in this brutal end to the evening!  James Nolan was the last Junior running tonight, with George Flack taking the win for the Seniors, congratulations boys, no mean feat!

Many thanks once again to Midge and the Brentwood Crew for hosting yet another successful, enjoyable, entertaining evening.  And of course, many thanks to Cheryl Palmer for running the shop and snack bar, keeping our bellies full, our thirsts quenched, and our tool boxes stocked with spares!

As many of you know, Midge and friends are off to Vegas on Wednesday for a week, so I want to take this opportunity to wish them all a great time, I know you've waited a long time for this trip, hope you all enjoy it, and if you win the millions and decide not to come home, you know my address to send me the keys to the club!

Our next meeting is Sunday 3rd April, when we host the AUTISM AWARENESS meeting, raising money for such a worthy cause that touches so many of us in one way or another.  Remember to dig deep on that Sunday, raffle tickets will be on sale, and I'm sure Sam Warman and Midge, amongst others, will have many surprises in store throughout the day!  If you'd like to make a donation in the meantime, please PayPal to samscustomdesigns@outlook.com; don't forget to mark it as family and friends!

In the meantime, have a great 2 weeks till we meet again.  Take care everyone,

Gill Goldstone
