DRIFTS BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP, RELIANT ROBINS BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP & ALL FARINA BANGERS
Once again we here at the club to determine the best of the British amongst us, namely the British Championship for both the Drifts and the Reliant Robins. The winner of the final today not only takes home the trophy, but the pride of the British Championship. So all to play for, but still time to have some fun!
DRIFTS BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP
So we start with the Drifts tonight, and we were hoping for a better turn out than 8 Drifts that were here , but this annoying pandemic got in the way! The current Champion was here as expected, Dylan Ellis, who has held the title since 2019 (thanks again to the annoying pandemic!). Taylor-Jay Liles was here too, who was placed 2nd in 2019; so we had 2 drivers out defending their honour, and 6 drivers wanting to take that honour away! Let's go drifting!

So the result from the heats then determined their grid positions and the drivers lined up as follows -

After three exciting heats, the guys were all lined up for the final race, the British Championship.
And look at Luke Poole, P4! Well done Luke, you go lad!
Lights out and away we go! All pulled away well and the race was on. Having had problems with his car all evening, Pete Bowley retired from the race after 19 laps. Danny Evans completed just one more lap before he too retired. Taylor-Jay Liles completed 37 laps and finished in 6th place. Coming home in 5th was McKenzie Webb, completing 40 laps, well done McKenzie. With 43 laps, Luke Poole finished in 4th place, just missing out on a podium finish, none the less Luke, a great result. Taking 3rd place with 44 laps was Jack Booker, and a lap in front of him, finishing in 2nd place was L J Saunders. But the man of the hour was the defending champion Dylan Ellis; retaining his title and still Drifts British Champion 2021! Congratulations Dylan, top man once again!

RELIANT ROBINS BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP
So Drifts sorted, now to move onto the Reliant Robins, also racing for their British Championship. A nice turn out of 20 Robins here tonight, meaning plenty of work for the drivers to ensure they got into the final race. Add to that, none of the top three drivers from the 2019 Championship, namely the current Reliant Robins British Champion Shaye Hunter, John Hillyard and Darren Howard, meaning the title was up for grabs, all to play for!

What a great finish for McKenzie Webb, first across the line, 4 laps ahead! Well done McKenzie, great racing. Used to seeing Ross Mason out there wrecking, it was a refreshing change to see him racing today, and proved his ability to race by finishing in 2nd place. Coming home in 3rd was another of our rising stars, Luke Poole, and in 4th place was Phil Roggerman. Barry Mason finished in 5th place, with Sean Foley coming home in 6th. In 7th place was Billy Saunders, and finishing in 8th was Toni Palmer. Well done guys and gal, a great race.
The atmosphere was definitely heating up as they lined up on the grid for the A Final. Their points from their heats determined their placings, and as Koonta and Jack tied they tossed a coin, as too did Taylor and Mark.
So this was how they lined up for the final -

A couple of good wins there for Billy Saunders and a win for Koonta. Marc Zanders raced well too and claimed two 2nd places and a 3rd. Some great racing too from young Jenson McNichol, picking up 3rd, 4th and 2nd; nice going Jenson.

Some exciting racing and excessive carnage created another great meeting for the Bangers tonight. Well done all.
Many thanks to the Brentwood Crew for once again running a great meeting here at Brentwood RC.
Take care everyone,
Gill Goldstone.
