The day dawned bright and dry, and with a feeling of Spring in the air, a song came to mind. Hands up who remembers this one....

But, being as I was being spoiled rotten for Mother's Day, I couldn't tiptoe anywhere near! Gutted I missed a great meeting (but elated I had a wonderful day out with family), as from what I hear, the day in the Cowshed went really well! To be honest, considering it was Mother's Day, there was a great attendance with 10 Juniors, 28 Bangers, 6 Drifts and 6 Reliant Robins, so a big thank you to you all for heading to the track on this special day, and apologies to all those Mum's who had to spend their special day without certain offspring!

Today was all about going Dutch. Sponsored by Rob "Norbs" Gymer, all Bangers were Volvo's, with the added attraction of going the opposite way round the track, in keeping with the "real" Dutch Banger racing! Many, many thanks to Rob for the idea, and for sponsoring the meeting, the trophies provided were exceptional, and greatly appreciated by all the winners! With Midge confined to the shop (get well soon Abigail, we miss you!), Divvy was left to run the meeting alone, and what a grand job he did too! Well done Divvy! and many thanks too for Sheri Hirse, who kindly stepped in and sorted the points in my absence, you did a grand job too Sheri, thank you.

So a fantastic start there for 717 Reece, with three heat wins under his belt, and looking to be favourite for the win in the final! Good results too for 217 Brandon with three 2nd's, and our own homegrown 115 Sonny bagging a couple of 3rd places too!

The Final proved to be a close affair, with the top three all finishing on splits! 414 Marc crossed the line first, just 2 seconds ahead of 217 Brandon, with 717 Reece following home 2 seconds later! what a great finish! Congratulations to Marc on being crowned Dutch Open Junior Champion 2018! A well ran race and a deserved win! Well done Marc, you did great! (All the more special for me, as he's my grandson! Sods law I wasn't there to see it happen!) Brilliants racing too from Brandon and Reece, all three collecting awards from Rob! Well done to all the youngsters who took part, making the Junior racing a great event, as always!

A great finish to an exciting Final, with 401 Craig crossing the line in first place, with a clear three lap lead and claiming the title Dutch Open Champion 2018! Well done Craig! 183 Shaye followed Craig home to take second place, with 117 Karl finishing in third. Great racing guys! And a great race had by one and all!

As a great day of Volvo racing came to a close, there was more fun and games with the DD. The usual wrecking and carnage took place, resulting in 540 Sam Hayward being the last car running (sadly no pic of Sam), a best wrecked trophy for 331 Andrew "Dinky" Donovan, and Best Entertainer awards for 199 Jason Dack and 233 "Big" Dave Nash! Congratulations boys!

"My idea for the meeting came from ENORC’s meeting (all yanks) which was anti clockwise, it was epic and different and I thought a normal meeting would be great like it, put the idea to Midge and the Brentwood team and they agreed to it. DRIFTS
The Drift drivers today launched their 2018 Club Championship, with six drivers taking part. A great formula this for spectators, watching how skillfully these guys "drift" their cars around the track! I cam't even drive an RC car in a straight line, let alone "drift" it around! LOL.

A great start for 319 Daz, aiming to reclaim the title he won in 2016, then lost to 71 Dylan in 2017. today's results place Daz at the top of the points chart, with Dylan just three points behind him! Young Shaye sits in third place, trailing by seven points. If today's racing is anything to go by, these three are hopefully going to keep the Championship tight throughout this year! Well done guys!
RELIANT ROBINS
Also launching their 2018 Championship were the Reliant Robins; a fun formula that creates much banter and fun! Six drivers out today, but I think we'll see greater numbers in future rounds, judging by recent inquiries regarding Reliant Robins up for sale!
