Dickie Boy Ally Series, Grand Finale

The Dickie Boy Ally Series came to it's conclusion today, with the final race for points and the Champion of Champions race, with the addition of 3 extra races, just for the sheer hell of smashing their cars to bits, all in the name of fun!

Our first race today was the Final Points race, where the top 20 drivers on the series points chart were selected to race for the final points available.  As Adrian Porter was unable to attend, Jay Ravell was promoted from 21st place in the points.  The drivers were then lined up in their points order, with Richie himself claiming pole position!

An impressive line up, and with 20 points available for the winner, it all comes down to this race!

Jay raced, but without a transponder, Kerry raced, but his transponder failed to register, and Michael failed to make to the track at all!  The wreckage started as soon as the race did, with some caught in a pile up on the first corner!  The lead drivers all got off to a flying start, made it round the first and second turns, and the race was on!  The lead changed quite a few times, with the leaders having to pick their way through the carnage scattered around the track, but Dickie Boy came through and past them all, reclaiming the lead and holding on to take the chequered flag!  Final result was as follows;

1st - Dickie Boy------------35/ 4m 36.22

An exciting CRASHTASTIC race, which now needed the points added to the charts to determine the series winners.

CONGRATULATIONS DICKIE BOY, YOU WON YOUR OWN ALLOY SERIES! Despite being unable to race, Michael still finished in 2nd place, and 3rd went to Kerry.  Well-done boys, you all did great!  Taking the trophie for the top 3 Juniors in the series, were 1st - Josh Mackey, 2nd - Jack Booker, and 3rd - Billy Harvey; Congratulations boys, you all did really well!

CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

Next up was a single race for everyone who had won various awards throughout the Alloy Series.  This included, heat or final wins, smart car awards, unusual tin awards, DD wins, best wrecker awards and best wrecked awards.  Taking part were

33 Jay Revell, 46 Geoff Hughes, 50 Ross Mason, 51 Dan Barrell, 65 Bradley Jarrard, 68 Jade Mason, 71 Dylan Ellis, 77 Josh Mackey, 81 Craig Cheverall, 125 Nathan Webb, 165 Richie Jarrard, 195 Peter Bowley, 203 Jack Booker, 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, 383 Darren Goldberg, 502 Aaron Lydon, 410 Alvin Harvey, 512 Lewis Harvey, 515 Conor Harvey, 546 Kerry Goldstone, 551 Michael Collins, 577 Alfie Lee, 590 Mickey Galloway, 662 Simon Alexander, 710 Billy Harvey, and 711 Danny Ellis.  Also added to the mix were the last two drivers attending today that hadn't qualified, 371 Sean Foley and 252 Dean Conyard, so they had to start at the back of the field.

The race was started and they were off to a flying start!  The pace was fast, and the drivers battled hard for the lead position.  It looked at one point that young Jack was going to win, but then Dylan, Billy, Richie and Conor homed in on him.  Also racing hard, unusually for him was Danny Ellis, best known for his wrecking!  Despite being passed, Jack held his cool and manage to fend off Billy and Richie, finishing in 3rd place.  What a great effort from this young man!  Coming home in 2nd place was Dylan, chasing hard, but just not quite able to catch the man up front.  Great effort though Bellend, well done.  Crossing the finish line in first place, and claiming the crown of CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS was Conor.  Congratulation Conor, a well deserved, hard earned win, well-done.  The full result as follows;

Congratulations to you all, a great race, spectacular racing, spectacular wrecking, and very worthy winner!

Three heats of fun races followed, with plenty of wrecking, as expected.  Two wins for Josh Mackey and a win for Michael Collins.  Taking the 2nd placings were Michael (x2) and Josh!  Third placing went to Jack Booker (x2) and Conor Harvey, with 4th placings going to Richie Jarrard, Jack Booker and Billy Harvey.  Plenty of banter filled the Cow Shed all afternoon, and lots of laughter, as is the norm for a Brentwood Raceway meeting!

This was a great finish to a great series.  no one was sure how the Alloy Series would pan out.  As with all new things, enthusiasm is great at the start, but can often trail off.  However, if anything, with this series, enthusiasm increased as the series went on!  Some tried it, didn't like it, and moved on.  Other heard about it after the first meeting and couldn't wait to get involved.  Others joined along the way.  Today had the biggest attendance, with 28 drivers taking part altogether!  Well-done to Jade Mason, the only lady driver throughout the series, who bought along some Essex bling with her Barbie pink, bejewelled vehicles!  Five drivers made it to every meeting, Dickie Boy himself, along with Michael Collins, Kerry Goldstone, Aaron Lydon and Darren "Divvy" Goldberg, well done guys, and thank you for your support.

The Dickie Boy Alloy Series is back next year, four rounds and a Finale, March 26th (under 1400/Micro), May 21st (unlimited), July 16th (unlimited pre '75), August 27th (vans), and November 26th Grand Finale & Champion of Champions).  In addition, Richie has set up a Alloy Series around various clubs, which promises to be very interesting!  And then in addition, there is the Alloy Civil War on 29th January, and The Battle of Britain 6-a-side Alloy Team Racing on 16th April (both at Brentwood Raceway).  So a whole new chapter opening for the Alloy vehicles.  Well done Richie, you put a great series together, and well-done to Midge for offering the use of the Brentwood track.  Thank you also to everyone who has taken part this series, hope you've all enjoyed yourselves, I know I've enjoyed being involved and watching it all!  Cheers!!!!

Here's to the Alloys in 2017!
