THE AYLWARD GRANADA BASH!
​
Having delayed the meeting from a few weeks back because of clashing with the World Final at Ipswich, it was finally time to get the Granada's on the track for their annual bash sponsored by the Aylward family. Last year, they provided some great trophies, this year, they supplied some fantastic trophies! Thank you Paul & Co! In addition, they also supplied a pack of beers and a couple of packets of sweets, what a generous family they are!
​
The first trophies to be awarded were for the smart car awards, and they deservedly went to 50 Ross Mason and 829 Alfie Parish, congratulations guys!
​
A great effort there from both drivers! Well done Alfie, and well done Ross, a great tribute in this Centenary year of Remembrance, courtesy of Sam's Custom Designs.

All three rounds were dominated by the KCO Dynamo, also known as Alfie Hunt! Well done Alfie! But all eyes were on Sonny Holtom and Caitlyn Howard, who had bought the Junior Points Championship down to the last meeting! With Sonny leading the Championship all year, Caitlyn has worked hard to catch him and they started tonight with Sonny leading by just four points!
In round one, Caitlyn finished in 3rd place, with Sonny coming home in 4th, meaning Caitlyn had pulled back another point! Round two, and Caitlyn came home in 2nd place, with Sonny finishing 5th, placing them on equal points in the Championship! Exciting stuff!
Round three saw Caitlyn finish in 2nd place once again, with Sonny crossing the line to take 6th place; this placed Caitlyn ahead by four points, so it all came down to the Final to decide the 2018 Championship! OMG, the suspense!, the excitement! the anticipation! the expectation! It was all to much for Caitlyn's Mum Debbie, who found it impossible to watch the Final, bless here! So she hid herself in the corner!
​
Ten drivers made it to the track for the Final, with Alfie Hunt getting off to a flying start as usual. The remaining nine drivers were all in hot pursuit, and the tension was electric! Sonny took the lead, with Caitlyn hot on his rear bumper, Alfie regained the lead, leaving Sonny and Caitlyn to battle it out behind him. Caitlyn moved up into 2nd place, then Sonny overtook! Caitlyn claimed the place back, then Sonny fought back! The place swapped between then constantly throughout the race, causing a few of us to bite our fingernails to the quick! Then, as the race reached the closing stages, Midge closed the screen down! Hearts were racing, Debbie was still in the corner having kittens, and Sam and I could do nothing but stand there and grin at each other! What would the final result be? Would Sonny retain his Championship or would Caitlyn snatch it from him? No one knew! The race finished and the result was whipped from the printer and hidden, now we'd have to wait for Midge to read the results!
​
In 10th place, having completed 20 laps was 158 Brandon Turner. Crossing the line with 33 laps to take 9th places was 829 Alfie Parish. 16 Denny Townsend finished in 8th place, also with 33 laps. With 41 laps, 7th place went to 568 McKenzie Webb. 734 Jimmy Farquhar came home in 6th place with 44 laps, and 888 Robert Pinnell finished in 5th place with 45 laps. Taking 4th place, and just missing out on a trophy for tonight's meeting was 414 Marc Zanders. So where did the last three finish? In 3rd place, collecting a trophy and 16 points was 59 Caitlyn Howard; in 2nd place, collecting a trophy and 18 points was 115 Sonny Holtom, and taking the top trophy tonight was 34 Alfie Hunt! Well done Alfie, a full house for you tonight!

Two great run finals saw Midge take the win in the B Final, proving he can race when he want too! 2nd place went to Jason, his first visit to Brentwood, but a veteran of RC Bangers! Wayne finished in 3rd place, on splits with Jordan, and Stuart came home in 5th.

In the A Final, Shaye took the win once again, with Daniel finishing 2nd and Dan taking 3rd. Crossing the line in 4th place was Jack, and 5th went to Dylan. Again great racing (and wrecking) from all, well done guys!

A fairly comfortable lead for Koonta meant that Shaye had a lot of work to do to catch him, but with the unstoppable Koonta racing tonight, it was a tall order! Sitting 22 points behind Shaye, Phil also had a hard evening in front of him. But none of these guys give up easily, so we were in for some great racing!

A great start for Charlie, with three heat wins! John and Jamie battled for 2nd place, with Jamie being the victor twice. Paul fared well with a 4th and two 5th, just losing out in round three on splits. Chris finished 5th in round one and 4th in round two, but sadly failed to run in round three. Sam took 6th place each round and Aaron finally got his car sorted to get out in round three and finished 4th.

Three straight wins for Shaye, once again, with Phil finishing in 2nd place each round. Neil took 3rd place each round, just missing that 2nd place spot on splits twice! Young Harry, new to racing, was happy with 4th, 5th and 4th, well done lad! Simon came home with two 5th's and a 4th, while Tony finished 6th each round and Darryl took 7th each round.

A win for Tony in the C Final, with Darryl coming home in 2nd place and Sam taking 3rd. Harry was extremely happy with his B final win, with Neil finishing 2nd and Caitlyn crossing the line to take 3rd place. Koonta and Shaye battled hard for the A Final win, which eventually went to Koonta on splits! Charlie finished in 3rd place and Phil came home in 4th. John crossed the line to take 5th place, whilst Darren finished in 6th and Jamie took 7th. A great race to finish the 1300's Points Championship, well done guys!

DESTRUCTION DERBY
​
Tonight's DD was the usual crash-fest of destruction and carnage! And of course, plenty of fun-filled banter! Lucas Dommett took the trophy for the last Junior running and there were sweets for Caitlyn Howard. Jason Webb received the award for "Best Wrecked" and last car running went to Louie Scott Draper. Well done all, another great finish to yet another great meeting!
Midge also collected a Mk1 Granada Coupe from Paul, as winner of the B Final, specially painted in Aylward colours!
