DREAMY HIPPOS ARE NO SLEEPY HIPPOS!

Sadly this was the last of the Dreamy Hippo shells meetings, as Matthew Lowe is moving on to bigger and better horizons.  we will see the shells still, but they will now be under the banner of Kamtec Modelsport, and we wish both Keith Dowsett and Matthew Lowe the very best of luck with all future ventures!  We were hoping Matthew was going to visit the cow shed tonight, but was unable to make it, so instead, in his honour, we had one of the best meetings we've seen here at Brentwood!  The action was fast and furious, and the banter came thick and fast, some great racing, which made a lasting impression on some new faces, and some great wrecking from the regulars!

It was also a special evening for Dylan Ellis (Irish Open Champion) as today he celebrated his 18th birthday!  Having whipped up a small birthday cake for him, complete with 18 candles, I found it hilarious on the way home when I was told he wouldn't cut the cake because he was convinced there was a balloon hidden inside waiting to explode in his face!  As if I'd do that to you Dylan!!!!  Hope you eventually enjoyed the cake, sorry it wasn't bigger and better!

A gruelling 40 lap race, with some hard racing and epic wrecking!  Midge, Jamie, Simon, Tony and Ross either failed to make it to the track or ran without transponders, so failed to register any laps!  Poor Dave, having struggled all night, completed just 2 laps to finish in 13th place.  Barry finished 12th with 16 laps, and wife Jean came home in 11th with 19 laps.  Alfie finished 10th with 20 laps, and Jack finished 9th with 21 laps.  Jay and Connor battled for 7th place and both finished with 26 laps, with Jay taking 7th and connor 8th.  Twenty-eight laps gave Paul 6th place, whilst Alex completed 29 laps to take 5th place.  coming home with 32 laps was Wayne, just losing out to Brad on splits for 3rd.  Grinner finished in 2nd place with 37 laps, but with a 3 lap lead, Ian was first across the finish line to take the chequered flag.  (Don't forget Ian, roof grades are done at the end of April!).

JUNIOR BANGERS

Just 4 Juniors tonight, 26 Jak conyard, 115 Sonny Holtom, 281 Teddy Warner, and 804 Jay Hennessey.

A great win for Jay in round one, with Sonny taking 2nd place on splits from Jak, and Teddy finishing in 4th place.  In round two, Jay failed to run, leaving Sonny to take the chequered flag this time, with Jak finishing 2nd and Teddy 3rd. In round three, Sonny took the chequered flag once again, with a 4 lap lead over Jay.  Jak came home in 3rd place and Teddy finished 4th.

for the 40 lap Final, Jay had a tremendous run, taking the chequered flag with a 3 lap lead from Sonny.  Jak came home in 3rd place with 27 laps, and Teddy crossed the line in 4th, having completed 21 laps.  Nice one boys!

DD

To finish the evening, and the Dreamy Hippo shells, off, we staged the usual DD.  Much fun and antics for the DD as usual, with the cars dropping out one by one, damaged, over the fence, stuck in the middle, however.  Charlie fared well and was the last junior running, with Tinker winning the whole affair with his Previa!  Great stuff Tinker!

1300 STOCK CARS

HEAT ONE - 25 Sam Townsend, 27 Jamie Townsend, 50 Ross Mason, 81 Craig "Hooligan" Cheverall, 114 Ian Ardley, 177 Brick, 366 Simba, 551 Michael Collins, and 662 Midge.

ROUND ONE - A great start for Brick, with a 3 lap win over Michael, who in turn finished  7 laps ahead of Holligan. Simba came in 4th with Jamie finishing 5th and Ross came home in 6th.  Midge finished in 7th place, with Sam completing 11 laps for her 1300 Stocks debut.  Ian failed to run (meaning his roof grade probably won't change at this rate!).

ROUND TWO - Following his success in round one, Brick went out and won the second round too!  This time Michael closed the gap to two laps, with Simba coming home in 3rd.  Having failed to make it to the track for the first round, Ian (when do the roof grades change?) came out attempting to make up lost time and chased hard to finish in 4th place, just losing out to Simba on splits! Hooligan finished in 5th place this time around, Ross came home in 6th and 7th place went to Jamie, whilst Sam had mechanical problems and completed just one lap before retiring from the race. Midge failed to run.

ROUND THREE - Brick now made it a hat-trick by again taking the chequered flag, with Michael finishing again in 2nd place, 3 laps down.  Hooligan crossed the line in 3rd place, with Ian (remember Ian, end of Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, Dec for roof grade changes) coming home in 4th once more.  Simba finished in 5th place, with Sam improving a little to come home in 6th.  Ross managed just 6 laps to claim 7th place, and finishing in 8th was Jamie.  Again midge failed to make it to the track.

HEAT TWO - 83 Toby Davidson, 186 Tom O'Sullivan, 233 Big Dave, 258 Dave Lungley, 311 Stuart Tinker, 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, 383 Divvy, 570 Rob Gymer, and 804 Jay Hennessey.

ROUND ONE - A great battle and a fight to the finish for Tinker and divvy, with a photo finish placing Tinker in 1st place and Divvy in 2nd, their times were so close; 24.12 and 24.16!  Taylor came home in 3rd place, 2 laps behind and Big Dave finished in 4th.  Crossing the line in 5th place was Rob, with Toby just behind to take 6th.  Tom crossed the line in 7th place, with Jay coming home in 8th and Dave finishing 9th.

ROUND TWO - Another great battle for the lead, and Divvy missed out once more on splits, this time to Taylor-Jay! Was he gutted, or what!  Rob improved and crossed the finish line in 3rd place, whilst 4th place was claimed by Tinker. Big Dave crossed the line in 5th, with Tobu taking 6th place.  Coming home in 7th was Tom, with Jay and Dave both completing just 5 laps to finish 8th and 9th.

ROUND THREE - Tinker repeated his first round success by crossing the line first to take the chequered flag, this time from a much improved Rob, who was faring well on his first visit to Brentwood Raceway.  A despondent Divvy finished in 3rd with Big Dave coming home in 4th place this time.  Tom crossed the line to claim 5th place, and Toby took 6th place on splits from Taylor-Jay.  Dave again had another bad race and having completed just 3  laps, finished in 9th place.

B FINAL - 25 Sam Townsend, 27 Jamie Townsend, 50 Ross Mason, 83 Toby Davidson, 114 Ian Ardley, 186 Tom O'Sullivan, 258 Dave Lungley, 662 Midge, and 804 Jay Hennessey.

Both Jamie and Midge failed to make it to the track, leaving just 7 drivers to battle it out for the win.  Dave completed just one lap before retiring and Sam managed 3.  Completing 21 laps, Jat came home in 5th place, with Ross finishing 4th with 31 laps.  Coming home in 3rd place with 35 laps was Toby, with Tom finishing 2nd with 38 laps.  Taking his first win of the evening and completing all 50 laps was Ian (don't forget, roof grades change at the end of the month!)

A FINAL - 81 Holligan, 177 Brick, 233 Big Dave, 311 Stuart Tinker, 366 Simba, 375 Taylor-Jay Liles, 383 Divvy, 551 Michael Collins, and 570 Rob Gymer.

All nine drivers made it to the track for the 60 lap A Final, and the battle commenced!  All drivers raced hard and fast, making this an exciting race to watch!   Big Dave completed 50 laps and finished in 9th place, while Tinker finished in 8th place with 51 laps.  Craig pinched 6th place from Simba on splits, both completing 54 laps.  Just one lap ahead, Divvy claimed 5th place, and Rob snatched 3rd place from Brick on splits with 57 laps.  Coming home with 59 laps, Taylor-Jay finished in 2nd place, but raising the chequered flag once more for the win was Michael.  Congrat Mike, a hard race, well run.

So we close yet another grand meeting at the Cow Shed, with some big smiles and grand memories of some excellent racing!  Many thanks to all who helped out tonight, and once again, Happy Birthday Dylan.  Oh and Ian, don't forget, roof grades change at the end of the month!
